I'm not white knighting for a country. I'm simply saying after a week of walking around Cape Town and traveling through the surrounding areas it's not this horrible place that the OP is trying to make it out to be. The nice areas far exceed the slums, and the suburbs are beautiful.
And my thoughts on the cities are that I feel bad for them because they've been caught up in wars for thousands of years over petty religious differences. But no I won't really comment on them because our national Media talks horribly about those places to keep national interest where they need to be. As Long as Americans believe they are the bad guys then we can keep stealing their oil.

I see. We are the 3rd largest producer of crude in the world. Why would we need to steal it from some places in the middle East now?
