That diseases alone were not responsible for 90% of the deaths of indigenous people during the colonial period. I've already given the example of the Taino, who were decimated before the first major smallpox epidemic.

As I've pointed out repeatedly in this thread, the modern scholarship doesn't support this assertion. It complicates this to a degree where it is mostly untrue. It depends on what you mean by majority as well. Did 50% die from epidemics? Possibly, but the context of those epidemics is extremely important and meaningful. I can explain in detail further, but I don't see a point.

This crank is saying enough Spanish troops came across the Atlantic with enough muskets and cannons to find and wipe out 450,000 Tainos spread across the Caribbean between 1492 and 1508 ( < 20 years.) And you swallowed that...
