Looks like something the wife would buy at IKEA for 29 bucks and I would bitch at her for paying too much for it.

Don't waste your money.
For $45M I'll weld one for you out of titanium and I'll even put his heart in the right place.

That’s an expensive dildo.

91 million felt excessive to me.
I was in the bidding up to around 70 million but I told my wife that I am not going to waste money on art like that. (We usually agree to keep a 75 million dollar cap on any frivolous purchases)
Besides, she really liked this bison made out of tinfoil that we purchased for only 46 million.

I can’t even imagine what it’s like to be able to drop $91MM on a metal rabbit.
Must be nice. It'll probably sit in the dude's basement for the next 50 years, then be re-discovered, and sold for $500 million.

Koons is one of the most famous artists of the last 50 years. This isn't surprising
Sure it is. The fact that his work is valuable may not be surprising. But the fact that some fool paid $91M for a chrome rabbit is.

This one is much more affordable...only 20 million:
New York – On May 17th, Jeff Koons’s monumental sculpture, Play-Doh, will highlight Christie’s Evening Sale of Post-War and Contemporary Art (estimate in the region of $20 million). Play-Doh was introduced to the public at the Jeff Koons retrospective put on by the Whitney Museum of American Art in 2014. Conceived in 1994 and finalized twenty-years later, Play-Doh quickly became regarded as one of the most integral works from the artist’s Celebration series. The unique sculpture will be installed in Christie’s Rockefeller Plaza galleries for an extended view beginning April 13th.

This guy is the same piece of zhit that spent a couple of days defending the gay men and Media who are sexualizing an 11 year old boy....

Jesus. I wish I had that talent.
Talent doesn't define the Modern Art world.
This piece is interesting, no doubt and took some skill to produce, but it's a joke when compared to the works of Michelangelo, Da Vinci, etc....
This looks like a promotion piece for an animated version of "Donnie Darko"...

Art makes me feel very stupid. I don’t understand at all. Is this made with some unique medium? Or is it 12 feet tall?
ETA I googled. It’s huge & aluminum. Makes more sense.

Modern Art is about ego, biography, the clique and money games...it's not really about art.
There are a few exceptions, but for the most part, Modern Art is a scam.
Take a painting and tell the gallery it was produced by a housewife in Ohio who goes to church every Sunday and it doesn't sell.....take that SAME painting and tell the gallery it was painted by a gay Latino Revolutionary Communist who died from a morphine overdose and you make bank.

90mil? And it's not even made by Rolex. 904L stainless, or nothing at all.

And this, honest to God, tells you EVERYTHING you need to know about "Modern Art", the people who create it and the idiots who admire it.
The same people would tell you that Basquiat was just as talented as Da Vinci.
