Quitting drinking was much easier than this shite.

Any tips?

Just chew Nicotine gum. I quit years ago. I'm addicted to the gum now so there's that. But I don't smoke anymore

Don't know how much you originally smoked, but I've found a progressive tapering to work pretty well. Down to a pack every 3 or 4 days with that eventually going to a week or more, hopefully. I'd probably kill someone if I just stopped completely.

Come take a ride to the hospital with me this afternoon to visit my dad. He's 59 and is in ICU with congestive heart failure after more than 30 years of smoking.

Just quit and don’t let the first thing that pisses you off make you go buy a pack. It’s pretty easy.

Chantix works well if you don't mind extremely bizarre dreams.

Switch to vaping baw. It's healthy for you. I'm puffing a vitamin c infused lebrons lightning lemonade flavor for flu season. Huge clouds

You’ll get a few responses from folks who smoked 4 cigs a day for 2 years who will say if they can do it anyone can. Not sure how much or how long you smoked but if quite a bit, it will take a week to 2 to get over the nicotine part, yes I realize nicotine is out of your body before than but you still have cravings. It will take 2-4 weeks to get over the habit part, coffee, driving, talking with other smokers, etc. May take up to a year to get over the mental part, wanting a smoke during stressful times, changes, dreams, etc. I used chantix for a month and quit.

Nicotine gum. Gives your mouth something to do while giving you some nicotine. Please don’t start vaping.

I would never have thought you were so trashy as to smoke.

I used the patch. You just have to decide that you really want to do it, which doesn't happen all at once. Then you get used to telling yourself no, which also gets easier with time. That's really the key, imo. Time. After a year or two you still occasionally think about it, but it greatly fades. In my experience at least.

I like a cig with beers, always have.
Trying to not even do that anymore.

I've tried to move on to cigars.
Don't inhale them and gives me the pull puff sensation.
Better for you than cigarettes for no other reason than you won't smoke a pack of cigars .
Usually just one does the trick.

I waited about 6 months after I quit cigarettes. I’ll smoke a cigar during morning deer hunts with coffee, and I’ll buy 2 every year for vacation. I probably smoke 8-10 a year, very seldom finish them. I would say last year I probably smoked 5-6 at most.

ETA: I’m speaking of cigars, haven’t smoked a cigarette since I quit

no magical tips..just have the willpower to do it, and the urge will get much much easier after a few weeks...don't do the nicotine gum or you'll just be a slave to that shite like you were the cigs.

also, you'll hear people say that the urge to have a cig will never go away..well that's bullshite. i smoked over a pack a day but quit about 15 years ago.

once i kicked the habit the urge went away completely and i despise cigs and being around cig smokers these days.

I did the vape pipe after quiting cold turkey. Only used the cheap arse vape pipes that leaked and always had a dead battery. About nine months of fighting with them I finally had enough and gave up vaping as well.

The urges gradually away. Fight through them. You can do it.

I've been smoking since I was about 15. So, over 20 years. Most of the time it was about half a pack a day.

This Lenten season just seemed like the right time.
