How did you handle the foundation work?

Rented a portable mixer, did sections and had a friend who's in the business help level it. He had power trowels.

I did have a guy do the septic line and pond. I didn't have the equip.

Worst part was the interior. I suck at trim carpentry. Took years to fix the inside like I wanted it.

I moved in when before one BR and the master bath were finished. Took longer to finish those out.

Don't forget he also did all this while being a raging alcoholic and drug addict.

And you rape children.

Damn, this lying millennial thing is easy.

When did you quit raping kids, or do you still do so?

The funniest part of this is you think that was some feat.

Most men could do it. Not you, but thats expected.

When exactly did you work on your home? During lunch and on the weekends?

They really couldn’t, especially while working full time, attended college, and only being 18-22. Most experienced construction workers couldn’t do it. I doubt anyone could do it. Did you hire helpers at all?

Do you have any idea how different it is to build a home now compared to 40 years ago? Why am I even asking?

You haven't even begun to address where you got the land, the materials, hell, thousands of things. Even assuming your story was 10% true, it only serves to enforce the point that THESE THINGS AREN'T POSSIBLE NOW.

You have really outdone yourself in this thread Roger. Bravo. Bravo.

How exactly did you get the materials for this? Did you just go to like home depot and buy as much lumber, piping, and wiring that you could in any one trip?

and i want to stress that we are simply talking about the actual house. not the purchase of the land or the zoning/coding/insurance issues that come with building a fricking house

those who will show up to work and do the minimum required but not much else.

If they are doing the “minimum required” that means they are doing what you are paying them to do.

If you want the employees to have a higher minimum level of work, then you need to pay them for a higher level of work.

Companies have shown they don’t give AF about employees, and now people are surprised people don’t give AF about their employer.

Remember when people worked 40 years for the same company and then got a guaranteed pension from that company? Loyalty goes both ways.
