1st and make 15yrs in December.

If you truly believe the first marriage is destined to fail, then don't get married. Mainly because you are one of two things: extremely selfish, or a terrible judge of character.

Just date people for a really long time, and break up. Don't get married.

If you aren't either one of things I mentioned, then you have to have patience, selflessness, and a lot of maturity. Marriage has taught me to be all those things, even though to a certain extent I was already. But I have grown exponentially in those areas thanks to my wife.

Holy hell. Why would someone do that?

It really is amazing. I think she feels like she needs a man to take care of her. I can't believe she's been able to convince the last few suckers to marry her. She's had drug problems off and on her whole life.

It's insane that her and my wife are related

I assumed first would be higher.

Why? There are more people that get married once than get married twice.

Let's say 50 out of 100 first marriages end in divorce. Of those 50, 30 remarry. Of that 30, 20 get divorced again.

Which has the higher divorce rate: the first marriage group, or 2nd marriage group?

As for OPs question, my wife and I will mark our 5 year anniversary this June. We started dating in college, 10 years ago this December.

Well, i think we can surmise how the first one ended.

To actually add something here, 1st and 4 years last week. If you aren't able to have patience, compromise, and be honest with your own faults, it will never last.

1st and 9 years. You just have to make a better choice the first time. Her up bringing, parents, siblings are all indicators. Don’t be a pussy. Play the field until you find the right one. They need to have drive, ambition, and self respect. I mean you want them to be hot but you can give up some hotness if it means they’re a great wife, mother, and not fricking crazy. Trust me it’s worth it.
