I just got my CPAP 2 nights ago. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and was a horrible snorer. Already I've experienced waking up without a sore throat and without headaches and that's wonderful. But when should I start to get the energy boost and the truly rested feeling? Or is it a gradual thing that I won't notice all at once since I have been sleep-deprived for so long? What's been your experiences?

I'd imagine after a few weeks or so. If you're experiencing that kind of success after only two nights, I wouldn't get greedy.

Give it time...

I don't wear a cpap device, but I'm a respiratory therapist... Most of my pts say it takes time..

Side note: I still don't see how people sleep with that shite on their face...

Did you try the nasal pillows..?

It's the only way to go. I like to sleep on my side and stomach and have no problem with nasal pillow.

Are you overweight? If so I would try getting your BMI into the healthy range.

That's the one I got. It doesn't bother me at all. I knew I wouldn't be happy with the Darth Vader mask and fortunately my sleep apnea wasn't that bad that I had to have that type of mask.

I'll just be patient. I'm happy that I was able to wear the mask completely through the night right away. The doc said some people have to work up to that.

Wife's dad got one about a year ago. Seems like it took him about 3 weeks - month to really get used to it.

Yes, I could lose 15-20lbs easily, but weight is not the reason I snore. I've had sleep apnea my whole life but never diagnosed till my 40's.

It takes a while to get used to it, but I can't sleep without mine now.

I just got a new type of mask, a Philips Respironics Dreamwear, the best mask I have ever used.

Going google this. I hate the mask. Not only is it uncomfortable, I feel like a nerd and that there's no way I can get puss with it anywhere near me.

You should get a dental device.

See my post above. I've used the nasal pillows for years, it was fine. Just switched to the dreamwear and I like it way better.

I've been using this for about 18 months. I don't think I could go back to mask.

I've had mine for years, I use "youtube" for programming and recommendations. I buy my stuff off Amazon. I do not sleep without it. I also notice that since I have it, I don't get near as bad sinus problems and I am almost never sick.

This is close to what I use, I bought an extra, but I don't see mine:
