Depends how close he is. If the door is closer, haul arse. If shooter is closer and I have no choice, frisbee a plate at his face and attack with knife/fork.

If I was at an IHOP it would be due to my wife, so push her at the gunman and use that diversion to escape and head to a better restaurant.

IHOP is big so easier to hide than a Waffle House. I’d look for an escape or hiding place first. If an opportunity to end the situation occurred I would.
