I’m in investment banking and have a fairly rare set of skills. Definitely an outlier on most normative curves.

Props to you! I’ve always thought that that’s the most boss way to make a great living. But certainly not the target audience for this OP.

I also grew up farming, ranching, and very blue collar manual labor. We had an issue about a year ago where a semi was parked in the drive of our office building totally blocking our lane (that office is in an oddly rural setting). Truck was running. I jumped in and backed down the lane about 70 yards to the wider spot so everyone could leave. I pulled it back to where it was and parked it like it never moved. Out Sr VP looked at me in amazement. I was like what? Didn’t everyone grow up being able to drive anything with an engine?

That’s freaking awesome, brother!

I've worked both. Blue collar in Louisiana sounds great until you're doing it 300 days a year in both scalding hot and freezing cold.

Yeah I’m about the only redneck in my field. It makes for interesting conversations. I usually relate better with the business owners we rep on sales engagements. My Ivy league, pussy arse bitch coworkers can’t relate to self made people.

Engineers, accountants, attorneys, healthcare, etc can all make six figures by 30 at the latest if they aren’t total retards, and that would be a higher blue collar earner. The white collar folks still have growth opportunities at that number

True. In the blue collar world when you hit your ceiling salary wise you have to become independent and open your own business I.e start a plumbing company, construction company, etc. once you gain the necessary knowledge and experience to make it successful

$1000 a day comes easy in home electronics but you still deal with some shite. There is still a lot of stress and you have a lot more people to keep track of. Every open customer stays on your mind.
But it's worth the freedom. I made this choice years ago.
Then just invest your profits and your business just grows without you doing anything extra.

I did a job fair at a high school recently. I would say less than 1% of interested parties possess the necessary intelligence. We’re on our way to a FAFO that will not be easily overcome. Think “Idiocracy” without electricity. The only way to fix problems in this country is to throw money at them. I’m raising my rates. Prepare thy anus.

I think you could do well recruiting Local Technical/Community College as well as ex-military.

I'd directly reach out to local program coordinators about their programs and about attending one of their career days "Looking for electrical technicians"
Example

A lot of the military guys can't get hired at big companies unless they get their 4 year via the GI Bill.

https://www.dol.gov/agencies/vets/employers/hire

Looks like a good place to start, especially DOD skill bridge.

It does suck, but I wear it like a badge of honor. And, I’d rather freeze or sweat my balls off than deal with this:

But that’s just me.

I don’t know that you can. Obviously there’s always talk of the trades making millions by owning their own business, but that’s not the common example.

I worked on a farm, built custom homes and fences before I went white collar. frick the heat and ruining your body.

I make 4-5 times more than a high earning blue collar worker without the Over time and while working 20-30 hrs a week.

I went UTV side by side shopping recently and realized that some people get to sell toys to adults for a living. They get to ride them with the customers, and most customers have money because they are toys and not a necessity like a vehicle or house etc. most folks were in great spirits and I was thinking these poor salespeople think this is work.

Then I realized it was a Saturday and they were working while I was toy shopping. So there’s that.

Some of us white collar baws started off as blue collar baws in order to become white collar baws
My career:

Retail - 5 years
Construction - 12 years
Multimedia & Broadcast - 4 years
Corporate Sales - 20 years
Technical Sales Engineer - 5 years
Senior Business Development Manager - 3 years
Director of Strategic Global Business Development - 2 years
Retired - 1 year

I left construction to get away from druggies and ignorant people. I don't know how you resolve that. Seriously, stupid employees and dope heads that worked for me got caught breaking into my business several times. One bad subcontractor after another, costing delays and dollars, over and over. The fricking plans, man, just read the fricking plans and your contract, for Christ's sake.

Anyway, I don't know how you get white collar guys to return to the trades.

Accounting firm

How much do you make per year?

A lot more than $100k. Our first year associates make 70 something and break $100k by about year 4

How common and (repeatable) would you say that is?

Just the 4 biggest firms employ hundreds of thousands

Pay more and not by the hour. I get paid to go play golf with my clients. I get 5 weeks off paid per year. I dont have to to work outside when it’s pissing rain or 110 degrees. My clients can sit anywhere in the world and I can still do the work from my office or my house, you have to travel to the job site.

You’d have to double my salary MINIMUM to pull me out of the office. Anyone with the same or better earning potential in white collar work is going to choose that because of the lifestyle and benefits. So you can pay more than those by a good margin that makes that trade off manageable
