Im 26 years old with my 2nd one due in a few weeks. My wife and I hate all the "new/hip" name trend so we googled names popular in the 20's through 40's. Ended up choosing names that were family names from back then, but also names that werent terribly outdated, Estelle and Eleanor.

And yes, prayers and donations accepted with 2 girls

All of the kids in my family are named after someone in the family or, in the case of one, a very close family friend for the first name and family name for the middle name. Same with the nieces and nephews, so far, except for one who got a trendy name and mentions all the time that she wishes she was named after someone instead of a name picked because her parents liked it.

Prove it, and there will be a $100 bar tab with your name on it.

Named my son Ernest. It was a hard sell for the wife, now she loves it.

Everyone in my family has a family name. No trendy names at all thank God.

My favorite is a girl at work who's 100% Italian. Named her kid Prestwick Lawrence Catalanotto(not actual last name but something equally as ethinc). It's so fricking stupid.

Completely agree. My wife and I didn't care for all the current popular names, so we named our son Edward. His middle name is a family name that has been consistently in our family since the 1600's. He just turned 1 last week.

My stance, if/when I have kids, is that if the name hasn't existed since before the 1950s, that it's a no-go

I have an opinion in this matter though (the thread as a whole). Not sure if I got time to type it though
You have an opinion on baby names that is long enough that you could post that you didn't have time to type it all?

I long for the days of having that kind of free time. My twin boys Xander and Gunner really keep me busy nowadays!!!

We picked an old Irish name for our daughter. Wife is Irish. You don't hear it much any more.
