Oh come on… what could a bunch teens with their retarded curly jewfros do wrong on the water?! They’d just go out there long enough to hit their vapes, make some new content for the social media pages, and possibly smoke a blunt.. let them live a little

Just kidding. Right call. If his friend was mature enough to handle a boat, you’d know. Don’t second guess yourself, you made the right choice

Lots of responsible 16 year old boaters. Punishing responsible kids because of the actions of irresponsible kids never ends well. Find out more about the kids going.

couldn't figure out why the boat wouldn't get on plane. Turns out we were dragging the anchor all over Big Lake.

You can plane an anchor, I assure you.

my dad started letting me take the boat out when I was 13-14, I was, and am, a very good boat operator, irony was I was probably a safer operator from 13-16 than I was from about 16+ to 21 because that's when we started taking out the women and the beer with us, got away with some wild shite

I grew up with a 15 hp Evinrude on a 13 foot flat boat that my dad let me use from the time I was 12. It wasn't until I was 18 that he let me take out the bay boat or pontoon boat with friends. I was able to gain his trust over a long period of time.

My kids did not get the opportunity I had but when my youngest turned 18 I purchased a Boston Whaler 160 Supersport for the kids for river recreation. 18 is a lot more mature than 16. I spent a week with them making them do every little boating detail ON THEIR OWN with my supervision at least 5 times before I allowed them to take the boat out without my supervision. They also had to take an online boating safety class (I never took). I totally trust them with the boat by themselves now.

I would have never trusted them at 16.

I have run boats inshore and offshore for years. My son grew up around the (14 now)... no way in hell I would allow that to happen.

Right call.

You left out the most crucial factor. Exactly how hot are the chicks?

Need pics in order to make an informed judgment.

No is absolutely the right call. As a former boat owner I've seen so much stupidity on the water that I am surprised there aren't more boating deaths each year. No way I would let my 16 year old out there without an experienced driver.

Nope. Definitely the right call. We just started allowing our 15 year old and his pack take the jet skis out on their own this summer but they had to stay in our bay portion of the lake where they were at least visible from shore. It was still terrifying. At least they all got their boating certificate so they are legal.

My grandparents gave me their old ski boat when I was 16. Got my boating license. Me and my friends loaded it down every summer weekend. Great way to get all the hot chicks in the class out in their bikinis and get ‘em tipsy

Once we took the boat to Grenada lake for thunder on water weekend rented a cabin me and a good friend of mine and 2 chicks. Drank beer all day on the lake got back to hotel started drinking bourbon in preparation for a Brantley Gilbert and Colt Ford concert at Partners night club. Over 1,000 in a bar that held 500 and it was 120 degrees inside the bar. Bar didn’t check IDs so we got in at 17 years old by saying we were 18. Got the underage stamp which we rubbed off in the bathroom so we could buy beer. It was so hot in the bar most of the chicks stripped down to their underwear on the dance floor.

I was driving back to cabin after the bar and the 2 chicks with us decided to get topless and flash their tits at cars through my sunroof on my 08 Z71. Get back to the cabin thinkin I’m bout to lay the pipe and the alcohol kicks in and my girl gets sick so i spend the rest of the night holding her hair while my buddy smashes his chick. To his credit as a true friend he offered to share her but I passed because the thought grossed me out at the time. Looking back, shoulda taken him up on it. Figured I’d still get my girl once she sobered up but didn’t happen. She felt too bad. Overall an awesome night though for a high schooler

I grew up on the water. Got my first Ski Nautique when I was 13. Skied all summer long with my friends, unsupervised, from then on. It's what we did. I agree that most of you clueless stupid fricks, with your clueless, sheltered kids, don't need to allow them on the water. But to just throw blanket statements out there that teenagers can't be responsible boaters is retarded. And par for the course for todays society.

and we don't know the kid piloting, what type of boat, his parents etc.

This is the one and only issue in my book.

I trust my kids to take the boat out and I trust the kids that they hang with on a regular basis. But I've been out with these kids before and I know how they operate on the water. They may get a little wilder without me, but they all know the rules and have respect for the danger.

As for letting a kid go out on the water with other 15-16 year olds that I don't know anything about? That's a negatory.
