My wife handles all that. I don’t know and don’t want to.

The way you worded it, I thought you meant driving your adult children around

He had permit for a year so it wasn't that big of a deal. It was really nice that he could drive to school, and bring his brother, and not have use making 2-3 trips across town to bring/pick them up.

The insurance was not as bad as I thought, it was only a little over $100 / month to add him to an older vehicle w/ liability only. To pay an additional $200 / month for a 12 year old car didn't make any sense to us. If it was wrecked it would be totaled and we wouldn't get jackshit from State Farm.

My premium just went up $400 a month total by adding my son's car (and him). The car without him was $100 a month. (added car when he had his permit). My other vehicle premiums went up. Anyone ever buy a separate policy or anything like that to lower cost?

If they know he is in the household they will assume he drives all the cars.

I was OK with the permit phase. It comes in handy if you have had a couple.

“Why do you always want to teach me to drive on Friday night?”

Lol Jim. Our third is a girl and she's going out of state. There will be no waving goodbye casually. Husband needs to stock up on Kleenex now. This time next year will be so very bitter sweet.

Tell him if he is 16 he is not supposed to be driving after 11pm or with another kid in the car except under certain circumstances....already breaking the law..

Do yourself a favor stop him cold from using his cellphone while driving...look up Cellcontrol. It works.
My kids hate it, but it stops distracted driving.

It was awful.

Not that I was scared because my daughter is a good and careful driver. But just because it is a concrete memory that your child is growing up. My wife and I just sat there in shock for a half hour.

I pay about $850 a month in insurance. Daughter waited until she was 16 to get her license. She got a ticket last month for 86 in a 45 zone, ON THE FEEDER road. I was beyond pissed, thinking what could have happened.

My wife freaks out. Not me. Kid is a very good driver. Pretty responsible. Me worrying won't do a damned thing but give me an ulcer.

Went up $65 a month AFTER bundling with another company.

Would have gone up roughly $260 a month if we didn’t switch.

Not having a teenage drive yet. How many wrecks do teens really get into to warrant such high costs ??

Following two teens each having the inevitable wrecks and a couple of tickets each-
Went from just over $2000 a year to just over $9000 a year.
