No. And if I did, I'd change clothes before leaving work.

It's the only reason I care at all that so many people do it. Bio security just isn't enforced at enough hospitals.

Show-off medical resident guy who can't put on sweats or shorts at the gym definitely rustles me.

Do y'all status judge each others' scrubs like you do business cards?

Yes. At my hospital, different departments have their own color. Labs, X-ray, respiratory, ED, etc.

You do some pub crawls in Katy? I'm sorry if I offended.

BTW. Not a doc. Just a Male Nurse.

Does "unnecessary" = clinic, or happy hour at the bar. I always frick with people wearing scrubs when they're not doing procedures that day (in a joking manner--like "what time is the Whipple scheduled for?" to the resident). If it's at a bar, total douche move no matter what the specialty.

Nobody should be wearing scrubs outside of work. It defeats the purpose of them entirely - you want to prevent bringing things in or carrying them out. People do it to save time/effort or to just look cool

99% of the people you see wearing scrubs in public are not physicians, and 90% of the rest probably never have exposure to blood or bodily fluids. All the office workers at my dentist's office wear scrubs. In most hospital settings unless you are a physician with access to a lounge or locker room, or actually work in the OR there are few if any places for Nurses/Techs/CNAs etc. to change.

How do you know Scruffy didn't doff his dirty scrubs and throw on a clean pair prior to leaving the hospital?

I rarely wear dirty scrubs (from the hospital) out in public. If I do it's because I just came off an ER shift and haven't been home yet to change. Most of the time, if you see me in scrubs, they're clean (or dirty from yard work or some other non infectious source).

Appreciate the made up statistics

Unfortunately some infectious disease doesn't require much for transmission. Many diseases don't even require bodily fluid. Last I checked every clinic and hospital had restrooms so I think there is adequate space for changing. Spin it any way you like but scrubs are supposed to be for in-office or in-hospital wear only. The fact that it's never enforced doesn't change that

This.

It's not M*A*S*H* anymore. There is no laundry bucket where people are taking off scrub tops to be laundered.

Probably because you're retarded. You've never done anything after work without going home to change first?

all the real doctors are wearing a shirt, tie, and whitecoat for most of the time unless they are going into surgery

That might have been true in 1950,1960 and maybe in the 70s and 80s but in 2017, it depends on what the doctor does. The doctors at urgent care wear scrubs. Docs in ER wear scrubs. They're not gonna wear a shirt, tie and suit pants for emergent situations.

Had a SO who would speed often, not excessively, like 10-15mph over, but enough to get a ticket. Once after she was pulled over on the way to work for speeding and a State Trooper let her go, she believed it was bc she had her scrubs on (it was 4am so he prob thought he was catching a drink driver), I told her she should wear her scrubs more often just in case and claim she just got called into the hospital.

She got out of many speeding tickets and depending on The destination would even bring a change of clothes.
