My logic is "I don't want to buy a gun." So I never bought a gun.

IDGAF if you have a gun or not. Not sure why some of yall on both sides can't just mind your own damn business.

How on earth can anyone agree that a firearm like an AR15 is OK to be legally sold/owned by a civilian?!

Because it is no different than your average hunting rifle in function.

In fact, it's a small caliber weapon..

You're right though, because the media has you believing that the AR stands for assault rifle and it is a veritable automatic cannon, I shouldn't have it.

You don't get to dictate what I own.

I didn't seek out your business. You posted what one could assume was part of your reasoning for not owning a gun, namely that you hadn't encountered a situation where you felt you needed one. As, clearly, such a situation (where you do feel you need one) would be too late and thus, your reasoning is faulty.
I don't care whether you have a gun if you get into a situation that calls for one. As you said, that's your business.

Ok so I have absolutely NO issue with a responsible adult legally owning a gun to protect themself & their family.

I don't believe you, but I'll play.

For those in the "they're coming to get my guns" group, take a step back & open your mind to a real discussion about gun safety/control in this country.

An Australian gun grab is the ultimate end game for regressives, but that wasn't mentioned in this thread.

Do you think an AR15 should be restricted because it's scary looking? Do you realize you can do just as much damage with an AK, shotgun, .308, or a handgun?

Do you disagree that Americans have a right to selfdefense?

And I wonder about your comment about the saddest thing you've ever seen...

What about a child who got hold of a gun & killed themself or someone else? Might change your perspective

You can wonder about my statement all you want, but if you haven't seen it in real life then you have no fricking clue so stop pretending.

I'm all for guns, but people who line up their guns for show off pics are typically lame truck nut owners.

I hope that pic was just for insurance purposes.

People who make such baseless generalizations are typically poorly educated and easily offended.

I own plenty of guns and am looking to get more. But I've never bought a single one with the mindset of possibly having to one day using it against another human being.

I've lived all over the country, and it is just different outside Louisiana. No, I am not generally concerned in the Northeast or out West, but if I lived in BR, I'd have a pistol at the ready.

Most of yall that have lived only in La. just accept this as a fact of life, unfortunately.

they won't like it, but a lot of truth in this statement

I've cared for a few children at work that were shot while playing with a loaded gun they found in their own home. Last one was a toddler that found a loaded gun IN HER MOTHER'S DIAPER BAG! Many times when children are shot....it is because the gun was easily accessible to them(gun safe wasn't locked, gun just stuck on high shelf in closet and kid climbed up to it, etc). If you are gonna have kids AND guns....please be responsible about it and properly store them. When I admit a patient I have to ask basic home safety questions and one of them is if a gun is in the home. I've had parents(mostly dads) get real sensitive sometimes when I ask that question.

We don't have guns in the house mainly cause we've just never really gotten around to make it happen. Not opposed to it...but would want to take classes, be comfortable with a gun before one was in the house (I grew up in a very anti-gun home so have literally only touched a gun once in my entire life). There are times (like when my husband travels for work and I'm home alone for several days) that I bring up us getting a gun. But then other stuff comes up and we just forget about it.

I've already been chastised, as I knew I would. I LOVE BR and Louisiana, but the least safe I've felt anywhere I've lived is in BR. Almost everyone I know in BR has had their homes or garages broken into. Many while they were home. It just isn't like this in many other places. Some, but not many places.

I've never owned a gun and haven't shot one since junior high. All this has made me take my wife to go get a shotgun and will add a pistol after. Academy was all sold out so i will be checking all week. Better safe than sorry.

I've never owned a gun, and unless the world spirals into anarchy I probably never will.

I Personally don't think civilians need guns, but I also understand the argument that it's our right to hold.

I've never once feared for my safety or feared that I might be a victim of a violent crime. You probably have a better chance at sleeping with a Playboy Playmate than being a victim of a violent crime.

We're on the same page. Responsible parents are key. All the children I've been around had a common factor of bad or carless parents.

That's a great attitude. You should learn and practice to become confident and safe. Honestly, I'm glad you've never needed a gun, but how safe are you without one?
