Nope. Don't have a need. Never been in a civilian situation to need one and will not ever be in one.

The pussies are voting.

Born and raised in Louisiana. Parents never owned a gun, I never owned a gun. Most of my family doesn't own guns either. Never really thought of it as an issue and it was never a political message. No one in my family in anti-gun either.

I was taught gun safety at an early age though and my dad did teach me how to shoot a gun and taught me gun safety.
Is your family all Democrats or liberals?

That's silly. I know you can't tell from the news, but this is the safest, most prosperous time in human history. And you live in the richest country in the world. Live it up.

Mostly Republican. Pretty much everyone in my family supports gun rights. Just never owned guns for no particular reason.

Vigilance and training with a firearm will protect you 100% better than without one; in any situation. It is always worth a shot.

Relative to the number of gun owners and robberies / break-ins at home, it's rare that you hear of someone using a gun at home to fend off someone.
Complete bullshite.

I get the NRA magazine every month, and there's a complete page every month of news stories of people protecting their lives and their families against armed intruders and robberies.

When I first got the magazine, I doubted some of the stories because they were almost unbelievable, but every one checked out.

Any raped or beaten woman would disagree with you, but most people live in a "that would never happen here" mindset.

A full page??!!?? That's certainly significant empirical and statistical evidence that home invasions that are resolved by gun owners are common events in a country with about 320 million people!!

Disagree that my anxiety would get the best of me and I'd freeze? That I'd freak out and start shooting irresponsibly? That an attacker would overpower me and take my gun?

Not sure how anyone could disagree that those are very possible outcomes of me breaking out a gun

If you were ever in the situation, you'd be praying you had a gun, or that a policeman with guns would arrive before you and your family were slaughtered.

You're nothing but a pussy who is afraid to protect yourself and your family.

I have never owned a gun, nor shot one. I think I may need to rethink.

I'm a bit late to this thread, but PLEASE get some training on how to properly use and handle the weapon. If you've not grown up with them and know how to use them, get that training FIRST. Then, once you are safe and know how to handle the weapon, buy one to protect you and yours.

Knee-jerk weapon purchases without training if you're not familiar with them is just dangerous. Once you are familiar with safety and when to use/when not to use protocol, then knock yourself out and buy tools to defend you and yours.

I'm not a gun owner. 100% for them though.

But I also have a 1 year old and honestly fear more that he would somehow get to a gun and hurt himself than I would need for other reasons.

You're right Paige, it would be better that you were raped and murdered than to defend yourself.
