Question about potential fraudulent charge on my debit card account?

I’ve used my debit card once this week since being out of town. I purchased just over $5 worth of items at Target.

I’m now seeing a charge of $60 at a pharmacy (located in same city as I am in currently - out of town) that I have never stepped foot into.

Is it reasonable to think that my card may have been hacked at Target? Or purely coincidental? How does this work (fraud)?

Call your cc company, report it, and they will correct the charge, cancel your card and issue you another one.

ETA: Just saw it was a debit card. Not sure if you’ll get money back.

Don't think of it as fraud. Think of it as advance reparations.

Your wife was just buying pregnancy kits and didn’t want to run into someone she knew. I wouldn’t worry about it

Most certainly. Thought Target of all places would be “safe” since I made the transaction in person.

Had that happen also. Took place this morning

Bank caught it first and contacted me

Some assclown tried to spend $400 at a RiteAid in California

Call them and tell them you'll only pay $40.00. If they play hardball, walk.

Highly doubtful. She’s always been a “backdoor” gal for as long as I have known her.

Must not have watched the news a couple of years ago

Criminals are pretty brazen. Cameras everywhere in Target. I used the self checkout isle on Sunday. Now seeing this $60 charge today.

I bank with USAA and like their app. I check my account probably once or twice a week. I only did it tonight because I haven’t received an order and questioned a company about it —- they said I never was charged and my order didn’t go through even though I have my receipt.

Yes it’s fraud. Very common now at Walgreens and other places with gift cards.
Most likely got hacked while at Target.

Your bank, by law, will reimburse you within 72 hours once you report it.
