Having roommates is standard across Europe and Asia

Not sure what you're talking about

My buddy works for a software firm and has roommates at 30. He makes bank, but the cost of living + limited real estate has kept him doing that.

ETA: He lives in the heart of San Fran... kind of an important detail I left out.

Lived with a roommate my entire life. Saves a ton of money. Not to mention one of my prior roommates was an OT 10, so it was a no brainer.

Maybe he does and takes a 8k vacation to the Maldives every year instead of spending that 8k on housing to live by himself when he's never there anyway?

Living alone for the first time after school was awesome.

depends on where you live. unless you don't mind blowing an extra 10k+ a year in rent.

if i were to have similar sqft and location, i would spend another 1k+ dollars a month to live alone.

if you live in bogalusa, you can have a rundown "mansion" by the "country club".

Maybe. If you are 28 years old and work a lot in a downtown metro there's nothing wrong with having a roommate. It's just not really affordable to buy and some people don't want to live in the burbs. Were not talking about 40 year old virgins here living with their parents.

College, FR-SO - Dorm, no roommate
College, JR-SR - Apartment, but shacked up at his place
Post College - Bought condo at 23, shacked up and had roommates
Late 20's - Roommates (male)
Early 30's - Roommates (male)
Mid/Late 30's - Bought a house, still shacking up, no roommates.

Always willing to take in stray friends who are down on their luck. I have never minded having roommates. But it was always friends and people I enjoyed being around.

How many of you lived with a roommate (or multiple) post-college? I'm talking about non-significant others, spouses, etc.

I'm willing to go with 90%.

I'm 29 and I've lived alone since I was 20. I keep meeting women my age and older who have roommates and it's just odd to me. You'd think most people would rather live alone. I mean at some point I'd be more concerned about being independent and not having to deal with roommate BS than saving a little bit of money.

Or why would 2-3 grown men want to live together post-college? Even if they're best friends.

Save money? The average salary coming out of college is 50K. Sorry if Mommy and Daddy gave you a few extra hundred bucks a month so you could room alone and also afford to go out with your acquaintances that have roommates.

Arent you in DFW? My rent is not that far off from Uptown. I commute to Las Colinas and live alone all bills paid.

Im 32 though, so I guess I have more time in the game.

I genuinely would find it extremely odd to meet a woman in her late 20's early 30's living with a parent or multiple roommates. That's a flag for me. Everyone is different though, I get that.

I've never had a roommate. I lived in shitty apartments to avoid it when I couldn't afford a decent place.

This for sure.

If I didnt live with my SO I'd have roommates for a couple years. 500-600/month with roommates sounds a lot better than 1500+ without.

shite with that savings and my salary I'd be living like a fricking king.
