which, by the way, is silly and impossible to implement.

But, on balance, is an anonymous internet more bad than good? Has it not hastened the rise of conflict and the demise of civilized discourse all over the world? I think there is almost no argument that it has.

But it has also shined light into some dark places.

I'm torn, man. We probably all prefer to be anonymous. But anonymity brings out the nutjobs on the far ends of the spectrum and amplifies their voices. (including some on droppings)

I'm not.

So some liberal whacko can harass me and my family if I say the wrong thing that triggers a microaggression fueled meltdown? No thanks.

Look at Nextdoor. When it first launched I thought the non-anonymous aspect would make it more civilized. No, it’s horrible. Just awful.

Anonymity has its true value too.

Haley is basically going out everyday and saying "what would infuriate the people who are concerned about neoconservatism and the MIC the most"

She should just wear a Raytheon hat in all public appearances at this point

the EFF is gonna have fun with this one

but not worth worrying about. they've been trying this for decades and it just isn't going to happen.

nsa can already track anyone down who doesn't know what they're doing (you have to go beyond simply opening tor or using a vpn).

this is just an attempt to silence the jesters who poke fun at our government.

i have voted mostly republican my whole life with a few variances to a libertarian or constitution party.

Haley and Christie are the two that will send me elsewhere no matter what. I'd have happily voted for Tim Scott over either of those blowhards.

Now think about what would happen if all of my IRL information was tied to my account and I called someone a fatty or something and then they called my employer and got me canceled. That doesnt' sound like it'd be very productive for anyone.

It’s crazy how they are right so many times, so far ahead of time.

Some of them made it easy to be identified though when they post on social media. That is how we knew about Jenna Ryan.

No. As someone who's not really that anonymous, I'm not a fan of forcing people to give up private details of themselves.

It wouldn't stop there, how would this not be the beginning of the government being able to control the information that you are allowed to search?
