The scepter and orb have to be held down by something. No way they’re only resting on top of the casket. I’d be terrified of them taking a spill anytime the casket is moved, otherwise. The scepter is basically on two little sticks with no base. You know those suckers are heavy.

They were all attached in some fashion. I saw some wobbling when they were getting her casket from the car and going up the steps. I was afraid the orb was going to roll off, but you could tell it was attached.

That’s right. I forgot the Revolution was last year and nothing has changed since then.

I was just thinking about all of those having kittens over why Americans care about watching the funeral of the British monarch...well, your distress will only be relieved for a brief period...there is the coronation next year!

There is that word again.

Is that really the right adjective for your question?

I think its appropriate. I'm not too sure why that clown is there in the first place (Polish leader too). Does he have any history with the Queen? This should be a England and UK thing.

I was strangley fixated on this busty image during QEII’s interment ceremony. Not something you’d see at a Southern Baptist funeral.

truth, I noticed this as well...

couple of things I noticed, Charles was very emotional and seemed simply human...

walking back from the church:

Fergie (not the singer :-)) with one of her daughters and son-in-law...

Zara and Mike Tindall with their oldest daughter (who acted totally appropriately for a child that age...

I believe that is from the coat of arms of the Kingdom of Ireland on the Royal Standard (2 quadrants representing England, one quadrant each for Scotland and [Northern] Ireland).

My wife had on CNN earlier showing part of the procession. When I went to my
Office and turned on the TV I put it on Sky News. The contrast couldn’t have been more stark. CNN had a panel full of correspondents who blathered on and on commenting on every little thing. By contrast, Sky had one man who actually said very little and let the event tell its own story. So much more elegant coverage.

Thanks for that. I didn’t feel like googling it.

I noticed the same thing. Started off with BBC America and it was very elegant. Little to no commentary with no graphics. Switched it over to NBC and it was like New Years Eve/Thanksgiving Day parade. Graphics all over the screen and cackling commentary. Can’t just let the moment speak for itself.

Always watch British state events on British broadcasting channels. The Americans just don’t do it justice.

Yes and it is a harp. It was strangely positioned.

It was a little creepy watching the coffin lowered into the floor. There will be a private burial attended by the family in a few hours.

Vacationing in England when she died. Went to the funeral procession today. Ended up in Hyde Park with probably 100K others, no telling how many elsewhere. No hope of getting to see the moving of the casket . They broadcast the service over a number of huge screens placed around viewing areas. No matter your feelings about the monarchy something touching about seeing the effect this has had in the populace. On a bus coming back, heard one lady say she had been in the queue to view the casket twice-that queue got up to 5 miles long.

I agree. Truly fascinating. The crowds all looked so well behaved as well.
