Part of the responsibility of pet ownership. Sucks but you buy into it when you get them. It’s kinda amazing that humans invest in something emotionally that they know will break their hearts several years down the line

That said, it’s never easy

Yep. I feel for you bro.

We just picked up a pup from my MIL for my old pointer to play with to keep him moving. I’m not looking forward to the day he goes.

I know the feeling. You’re right, it’s one of the worst feelings ever. But just find peace in the fact you most likely did the very best thing for him/her. Think of the good times.

Yep....the grieving that I experience is not too much less than losing a family member.

Adopt a dog after you grieve for a while and help save a life.

I always said I would never get another one after my Shepherd mix died, but now I’m glad I did.

While one of the hardest it’s also one of the most selfless things that we can do.
I am very sorry for your loss.

I’d rather put down a family member than a dog. It’s that bad

Yes it does...had to put ours down this past New Years Eve. VERY hard to do...but he’s in peace and out of pain now, & I just keep reminding myself of that.

I have never had to do this but this will be our reality sometime in the next few weeks/months. Already know I’m not going into work that day whenever it comes.

I’m sorry about your dog. They really are family. All you can do is think about how you gave them a great life. And that they are not hurting or suffering anymore.

I feel your pain bro. My wife and I have been having dogs as pets in and out of the home for 45 years. I lost my best and faithful dog 1 hr before kickoff of the Auburn game last year. He would always watch the games with me in my man cave. I had to put him down and buried him wrapped in my LSU flag. I was sick about this and really did not care about the game until the walk off kick. I think the win came from Old Lou

Being an older guy not only have I had to do this terrible task but I have had to do it 3 times. It is very hard and this big tough Cajun cried actually sobbed out loud all 3 times. But the joy and companionship made it worth doing again. Now we have doggy #4 love him dearly and in the back of my mind always is the thought of maybe having to do it again.

I was 21 when my childhood dog had to be put down, got choked up like a bitch. Never wanted another pet after that.

Had to put our border collie down . Horrible. Best thing is to get another one . Now we have 2 Corgis. Absolutely in love with them . I’m sure it will kill me when that day comes to say goodbye to them

Almost a year to the day since Abby the Wonder Poodle passed to the big bone yard in the sky. Still too sad to get another one.......
