Looking at a couple different options for 6 nights in Punta Cana.
Leaning towards the Hard Rock because it looks like they have some great pools for our 5 year old
Anyone ever been to the Hard Rock Punta Cana or have any other recommendations there?
TIA

Just got back Friday- people we met said Hard Rock was a younger, more of a party crowd. Our guide said Sirenius sp? is best for kids. They have their own water park for kids. PC is an awesome place

We stayed at the Bahia Principe in Punta Cana. Absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back.

I'm thinking about getting the kids to The Caribbean too, but every time I see the airfare I get discouraged. Even checking Houston airfares and destinations it just doesn't make a lot of sense. Plus with three kids, it usually requires a villa. And then I see that I can go to Hawaii for like another 1500 and I end up deciding to go to Florida.

Reconsider the trip. Spending your time and money in third world countries is never a good idea.

Thought about Switzerland yet?

It's the full day of travel that turns me off with most places in Caribbean. I can leave lafayette in the morning and be in playa del Carmen by noon.

Eta: we do a lot of long weekend trips, for 7+ nights a full day of travel wouldn't be bad.

The northern coast (Cabarete) is prettier. I wasn't impressed with SE Dominican Republic.

Yeah 7 hrs is shortest for me

A full day in an airport with a 3 year old and 6 year old is not how I like to start or finish a vacation

Where do you suggest to stay in Playa? I'm booking a trip there today or tomorow. I'm looking more to party than not...

Barcelo Bavaro is very nice for the price. We enjoyed it. We did the adults only section, but there is a family section as well.

Then go to Grand Cayman. From Lafayette....connecting in Atlanta should be no more than a five hour trip. I fly direct from Atlanta and it takes about 2 1/2 hours.

To the OP. We stayed at Ocean Blue in PC. Two large pools and the one closest to the beach is more kid friendly as that is where they do daily activities for children. Music, games,etc.. My wife and I were kid free so we used the upper pool to get away from the noise.

We travel to the Caribbean every summer and personally, we consider PC to be the least liked place we have been without the kids. We will never do an AI again without the kids. I do think, however, the kids would have loved being stuck on a 20 acre resort with the 2 zero entry pools and a beautiful beach. Just not much to do outside the resorts in that area. Going to the Caribbean without kids.....my wife and I like going to the islands where we get out and explore daily. St. Lucia, St. Bart's, Barbados, etc..

But with kids, yeah, PC is a good destination.
