I have coached 4 -5 t ball,6 year old boys baseball and 6 year old girls softball, 6 coach pitch baseball and 7-8 softball. T ball is herding cats for half the team.

6 years old let them bat through , 7 pitches, fudge a few more for real weak hitters if needed, wha t does anyone accomplish with a strikeout? No ball in play to field and young kid in first year crying because he struck out. There is plenty of time to play " real baseball" in a couple of years.

I always judged the success of my kids coaching by how many want to sign up and play the next year.

When my kid played T-ball, they didnt keep score and batters got to swing until they hit. It was all about learning how to play, not winning or losing. But the rare time someone caught a fly ball or threw a runner out, they were out. It was so rare though and never saw a batter get upset for being put out but it excited the kids on defense and rewarding for a good play

ETA: didnt play 3 outs rule, just runner who was out got off the bases and they batted around the entire lineup each inning

People are idiots. Those parents expect their kid to be the next big thing, when in reality, they will end up pushing them to the point the kid will hate playing.

8 years old is the age where kids should start playing competitively. Before 8, they are still trying to develop the basic knowledge of the game. At 8, they should have an idea of how to play the game. By 12, you should start getting an idea what kids have the interest and skill to play HS. and then it works itself out from there.

That dude sounds like someone who uses shite like that to sound "alpha".

Yes. Game has rules, rules impose order, order imposes discipline. Even at that age. Life is about ordered liberty, without rules, no liberty and a bunch of slippery slope all stars.

I wouldn't participate in that league.
