But when they call for recovery she should be kept 24 hours? She will get paid to sleep. Will that not make up for it?

She never has in the past. Even for Allison. I was always able to pick her up and return her the next day.

A county place does this? I'm pleasantly surprised if true.

That is now my company does it. Tx and LA branches. Either use PTO or it's unpaid. Hourly only

FEMA will pay for and reimburse time from my recollection- even rest time.

How big of a hospital is it?

It's Ben Taub sister hospital. Ben Taub is the massive "charity" hospital here. Ben Taub is evacuating.

No way I would actually request PTO for this.

Yes, of course, you arn't insinuating they should get paid, "because its not their fault", or you?

Even if that location is evacuating, many more locations need assistance. No way MH should be forcing PTO

We aren't charged ATO for weather closures. Id have to pull out the union contract to see wether its a paid or non paid day off excused.

Sounds about right for a hospital. Not surprised.

Yes, unless the company decides to pick it up.

This is no different than what hospitals in Louisiana would do. Been there, done that, glad I'm retired.

The only thing similar to that I have experience with was regarding a 2-alarm fire at the plant (and this is in Texas).

We were paid however many hours it took for the site to cool enough to retrieve cars, most in excess of the scheduled end time, in addition to a blank check tab at a local restaurant to pass the time at(no booze).

However, as far as shutdowns due to acts of nature (heavy snowfall) goes, we are given the option to pull from sick time, vacation time, or agree to no pay.

PTO = Power Take Off. It drives the mower behind my tractor. I have no idea what PTO means to you. Very confusing.

I was gonna say out here they engage the PTO so the Frac pump and such can run!!

That's fricked up. Its their time.

Let me guess, all vacations have to be submitted for approval, and there are times where you are forced to deny for the sake of the business (which is acceptable).

But refusing to pay it out when there is no work to be had is simply a monetary choice to try to keep that liability trapped rather than paid out.

If the hospital is closed and she is forced to use PTO, that is about the shittiest thing I have ever heard...seriously...

There is no norm for PTO. That is dictated by the employer and any related labor laws (which I think are generally silent on these issues). Lots of places do this, however.
