True they may be confused because he is the only living WW2 marine Medal of Honor recipient.

Iwo jima saw 27 medal of honor recipients. 14 were posthumous. That's insane.

WW2 vets are hard to come by these days. The youngest guys to get in before VE and VJ turn 90 this year.

When we first got UK football season tickets 20 years ago, we were sitting next to an older gentlemen and his wife. Over a couple of season of sitting next to each other, he slowly told me he was in WW2, and was on the Arizona when the attack happened. He didn't want to talk about it much, so I never pushed him to do so.

They both passed away several years ago.

My neighbor across the street was a ww2 vet. Would always wear a hat with the service medal. Signed up at 17 to the Marines. Talked about how hated the Japanese were over the Germans and it was no secret which branches were going where.

My great grandmother had 3 brothers, and all of them were Navy in WW2. I don't know if any of them were in Hawaii, but I do know they had ships sink under them.
