Residual Value: Brand new the MSRP was 41 or 43k...60k miles....Est trade is 14-16k. Maybe that’s normal for an SUV, idk. But that seems terrible to me
Are those numbers accurate? Per NADA, a top trim Sorrento SX AWD v6 with all options has a rough/average/clean trade value of $16.8/18.2/19.3k. You can squeeze some more trade value from it.
Compared with comparable 2016's, that's better than a Pathfinder and within a few hundred bucks of QX60, Traverse/Acadia, Explorer, and CX9. The Highlander is the best, a couple of thousand better. So, the residual value is actually pretty comparable to its competitors.
The post comparing a Tahoe is unfair. That's a completely different class of vehicle. That large SUV market is insane.

I hope you’re right. I think I last looked on KBB. I may have mixed up what I owe now that I think about it

Hyundai bought 51% of Kia in 2019 and began to transform their brand. I’d still pick Hyundai of the two.

Beat me to it. The government also heavily subsidizes them. Loved living in Korea, but like 6 companies own damn near everything!

Still waiting for my '14 JGC to have all the problems this board claims will come to me. My sister had a '13 JGC w/no issues and is now in a '19. Parents had a '14 JGC as well with no problems. They now have a '18 Wrangler w/no problems.

And why didn’t you go to another dealer?

Normal deterioration or “wear and tear”
When is it normal to "tear" things? Do people go into their cars, tear shite up, and just think, "well, this thing's got 80,000 miles on it- this is normal!"
Who the frick am I kidding? Or course they do. I've seen other people's cars.

My service guy hates working on KIAs. That told me all I needed to know honestly.
We have a 2018 Forte in the shop right now. It dropped off on Monday of last week. The door we ordered still hasn’t come in. They say it should here tomorrow (which is what they have said every day for the last six days.
I will say this- they are very thoughtfully assembled and easy to work on.
Mechanically? No idea.

Get a Hyundai
But don’t get the Tucson, which Hyundai has issued a massive recall for and has warned people to park away from their homes due to the possibility of it catching fire.

You spent 40K+ on a Kia?

If you thought Kia's were a POS, why did you buy one?

I know at one point when KIA first came out, you could only take it to the dealership to get it worked on in a timely manner.
I wouldn't want to go without my car for that long.
