Go get it done. Do it on a Friday morning and you'll end up having a nice Friday nap when done and it will feel like a long weekend.

I'm not going to pretend the prep is fun. Frankly, it was the taste for me.

But, everything else was barely a problem. Sitting on the toilet isn't that bad. And the actual procedure is like 15 minutes and feels like a great nap.

Drinking that damn clean out drink
It's like getting brackish water in your mouth, but worse somehow.

They told me in the pre-op room that they have people show up all the time, claiming they used it, only to have them stop the procedure shortly after they start when the probe runs into a wall of turds. What kind of dumbass thinks the doc won't notice?

Had my first this year at 29 due to some family history and GI issues. Came out all clear thankfully. On schedule to get them every 5 years.

Ask for the tablets instead of the drink. The tablets had ZERO issue making me shite myself almost immediately. There’s no avoiding that part, but they weren’t really gross at all. Just had to take like 12 of them in a half hour.

My stomach had been bothering me. Have kids now so kind of doing a little health overhaul. Went and did stomach/throat scope (whatever they call it) and colonoscopy. Doc removed 3 or 4 polyps on the colonoscopy. All non cancerous, but guys I’m 33 years old and no colon cancer on either side of the family. Go get it done. It was a breeze, nothing to it. If I had waited till 45 when you’re supposed to do it I would have had a major problem. I Go back in 5 years now.

I had mine done exactly a month ago and it was easier than I expected. I drink lots of protein shakes and health drinks that don’t taste that great so the drink isn’t all that bad. I thought of it like a health cleanse. I also enjoyed the nap. I had drool on the pillow when I woke up and told the nurse that I’m awake. I felt like I shouldn’t have been awake yet. She told me it’s all done and I had no polyps. This really surprised me because my very healthy younger sister had 3. My dad had colon cancer when he was 47 (he’s had part of his colon removed then chemo) so we had to do them younger than normal. Doit doit!

The prep for a colonoscopy and the procedure itself has hospitalized me for a few days

What. The. Hell.

Seven years ago when I turned 60 I was working 3 PM to 11 PM. I worked the night before and actually did the flush while I was at work. No one knew better. The next day after the colonoscopy I felt fine so I went to work. It really was not a problem at all.

So you can probably understand why I am so incredulous that you had to spend time in the hospital over a colonoscopy. There must be some extenuating circumstances that I am not aware of.

I have been going every 3 years. My last was good enough that the Dr said I could go 7 years. No way... I am getting arse poked in 3 or 4.

The anesthesia isn't bad, the prep drink is horrid.

Well documented gastric issues that cause me near constant nausea and vomiting along with right side pain that I am prescribed 90 Percocet a month for.

Between the nausea and the prep flush I ended electrolyte and mineral deficient triggering the vomiting which further depleted the stuff and the dual end of the pipe activity caused dehydration on top. Also a common side effect of sedation is nausea so I continued vomiting constantly following the procedure.

It took 3 days of fluids and electrolytes and minerals to recover normal levels.

I know of three people who died of colon cancer after they put off getting a colonoscopy.

One was a doctor’s wife who was at the prime age to get scoped and had all the time in the world to get it done. Another was a 60 year old vegetarian who was slim and fit and looked 10 years younger. He never got to enjoy his approaching retirement.

Had mine 2 weeks. I had been canceling every time. It really is not that bad. You have diarrhea, get knocked out, wake up go home. I farted a little after procedure and that was it.

Other than the clean-out, no pain at all for me. Great nap, you come out giddy and I always go to Simple Joe’s after. Got an A on my last one and Don’t have to go back for 10 years. Take psyllium often and eat your fruits and veggies!

Good on ya bro. Glad you have been proactive.

I’ve been up on mine and have had zero polyps. No family history of it, but do have another hang up: Severe diverticular disease that’s genetic

Recent flare 8mon after surgery consult. CT Scan confirmed everything and doc is now on board with resection.

Fortunate that it’s a curable situation……in a couple of weeks, I end my 14-year struggle with this bullshite!

Get that scope folks.

I’m good for another 8yrs. Procedure is cake,,,prep is not.

Since we are on health PSA’s…another bit of advice. Get your PSA checked…it’s Prostate Cancer Awareness month, so might as well preach.

Catch it early. Catching it early can mean the difference in a pain in the arse experience and a really fricking shitty/life threatening experience. I got lucky and only have the PITA experience …so far.

I know we, as men, don’t like getting prodded and probed, but if you wait too long, your probing will get much more serious.

Dude. I get it.

Get fricking over the ignorance is bliss thing and/or having to control all outcomes.

Get your arse to a doc.
