People in Nashville have no idea how to drive in a hard summer rain shower. People will just pull over

But yeah, hazards being on in the middle of the day in rain is a common occurrence and so damn stupid. There were people with hazards on the interstate yesterday while it was raining and everyone was still going 70+.

Considering you claim to engage in unsafe driving behavior, I'm going to go with very doubtful on this subsequent claim.

Big storm is one of the few times i'll ignore the left lane is for passing rule. Sometimes you gotta get out from behind a cars spray to be able to see when its bad.

Either hazards on or lights on so I can see taillights.

People that drive with hazards on in the rain deserve to have their licenses taken away.

On some vehicles the rear hazard lights are the brake lights, so if you're driving with your hazards on, your brake lights don't light up! very very unsafe, especially in a rain storm.

Besides that, having multiple sets of lights in your field of vision flashing at different times and intervals can be pretty disorienting.

One thing that I've been seeing more of lately is people who have their lights hooked up wrong. Their taillights and brake lights are always bright, making it look like they're applying their brakes constantly.

I guess some people get in an accident and get their cousin to do the body work, and have the wiring hooked up wrong?

Regardless, it's both annoying and dangerous. Even moreso than somebody riding down the road with their hazards on.

Every driver should use RainX. The difference is like night and day.

Rainx tends to give a false sense of security. It leads to driving faster than the conditions warrant. I know having hydroplaned into oncoming traffic.

Pretty sure you're trolling, but just in case you're not.

quote:

What are hazard warning lights? Hazard warning lights are a pair of intermittent flashing indicator lights that flash in unison to warn other drivers that the vehicle is a temporary obstruction.

quote:

When should you use hazard warning lights? They are to warn other road users that you ar a temporary hazard. For example, if you have broken down on the side of the road, or you are changing a tyre. If you are being towed, you should use your hazard warning lights.

quote:

When shouldn't you use hazard warning lights? They shouldn't be used if you are driving in traffic. You should not use them to warn other drivers if you parked illegally (you shouldn't be parking illegally). If your hazard warning lights are left on while you are driving, any signaling with your indicators will not be able to be seen.

Oh by the way. It's against the law to drive with your hazard lights in Louisiana and many other states.

OP... you may want this...

From the AAA website on Hazard Light Use by State

LOUISIANA
Hazard light use is not permitted while driving.

Lights ON

and this means front and back, not just those daytime running lights people rely on. I've come a helluva lot closer to running over somebody without their taillights on in a driving storm as opposed to my headlights keeping me from running over somebody in front of me.

I guess some people just don't mind taking it in the rear as opposed to in the face.

the "auto" setting on most modern vehicles should alleviate this issue

Hazards OFF. I know there are the hazards on defenders on this board, so please answer one question. If you are driving with your hazards on, how am I supposed to differentiate you from a vehicle that is stalled in the travel lane?

If they are driving 30 mph slower than the speed limit...there isn't much difference between them and a stopped car. If you are driving the speed limit then hazards OFF. If you are creeping down the interstate then by all means, turn those MF-ers on. I would prefer you just pull off to the shoulder until the rain passes, but we all know that you won't do that.

Or don't. If you don't feel safe keeping up with traffic flow, pull over to the side of the road. Then by all means turn those MF-ers on. It's illegal to drive with hazards on for a reason. It's unsafe.
