OK I did the semi-annual dance with XM this morning. I'm posting this for those that don't know about it or just forgot about it.

I'm currently under their 6 mos. for $30 "newbie" plan for umpteenth time so I just wanted that to continue and like clockwork XM says they can give me the current special of $127 & change so I say cancel and then they counter with another special; 5 mos/$35 and I say cancel and then they give me what I originally asked for; 6 mos. for $30......why do they torture themselves like this? Yeah I know some people pay the higher prices.

Question - has anyone be able to get the $5 per month rate and have it locked in for a year?

After 13 years of service I finally told them motherfrickers to suck it. I carry the premium service on 3 cars and they all renewed at different times.

I have the premium service in three cars and they’re all in the 6 months/$30 program. Each car is on its third or fourth go around at that rate. I just put a tickler on my calendar with the expiration dates. Call them a day or two before and tell them to cancel and eventually we end up at the 6 month/$30 rate.

Yes, I had been getting the 5 or 6 month deal at $5/month for a few years now. Last time I called though, they offered me a year at $60 so I jumped on it.

I got a lifetime way back when they did them. Best money spent.

I asked them about this the last time I did this dance and wouldn't do it; I'll have to ask more firmly next time.

I just bit on the $8/month. I guess they got $3/month more out of me.

I got Sirius in 2008. I’ve only talked to them three times since I joined for switching vehicles. My bill is $48 a month for two vehicles.

Appreciate the thread. I was due to for auto billing for $300 yearly fee next month.

Called and spent ten minutes and got them to $97 yearly with fees and taxes.

I called awhile back and said I saw a promotion for 12 months for $60. They said "Ok, we'll honor that". At least the dance is annual now.

I mainly would use it for sports if I happen to be driving at the time of a game for some reason.

All you have to do is call and ask what specials they’re running. It’s not that hard.
