Expect this mob statue trend to take off.
Unfortunately so, and like was mentioned earlier it's honestly a faux outrage. No one gave a shite about the statues until it was cool to do so, it's just jumping on board the latest fad coupled with the fact everyone wants to be a victim. Frick the white supremacist too, they don't help the case.

I agree that the outrage is fake as hell in 2017, but like I said on the previous page, I think the existence of the statues is a bit perplexing. It would be like allowing a statue of Santa Anna in El Paso.

Do you not find it the least bit weird that a country and leaders who went to war with the United States are revered in the US? I ask that sincerely.
The statues don't bother me in the least, but I find their existence a bit puzzling. I understand why the South likes them, but the South didn't win.
I'll attempt to try to explain the attachment to statues, though it's kind of hard for me to fully explain it.
The civil war was something that affected every family in country, some more than others. However the Union enacted a scorched earth policy that not only destroyed their homes but also humiliated them as a people for decades after the war (Reconstruction). They were also taken advantage of by many from the north that came south and sought to profit from these people broken from years of war and poverty.
Once they were finally able to steer their own ship again, I suspect they were not only trying to regain their identity but also honor those that they fought alongside or for. They were simply looking for the "honor in defeat" that they thought they never received. I believe they wanted to have some semblance of their rebel spirit preserved in some way, shape, or form and these statues and monument are the avenue they chose.
I think the issue we deal with today is that we constantly try to look at these figures or monuments through the lens of our 21st century ideals which can be a silly thing to do.
The federal government forgave and pardoned these figures. That should hold a good deal of weight when we put this into context.

Can the war wait until after football season? I want to see what Stidham can do.

This is the part that stuck out to me. I mean, on top of the obvious. But this person is basically saying as long as you have a bunch of people that agree, they can bypass laws.

We are already creeping towards a lawless society. The signs are around us.

Yeah. Like breaking the law by destroying public property.

How can you say that? Media and pop culture tell me whitey is evil.

Lethal force is the only thing that will stop these worthless progressive pieces of shite. Send in the National Guard, use these asswipes as target practice, and the United States will be a safer place for both the left and the right. Next time the white supremacists hold a rally, do the same thing to them. Repeat this until the extremes of both sides are wiped out and we don't have to see this bullshite every damn day.

The white supremacist rally was the very tip of the ice burg. That was a reaction to the loony liberals going nuts for the past eight months. This is only going to get uglier as both sides start going toe to toe more often.

Yeah, I agree. These extreme tactics usually beget more extreme tactics in opposition.

Somebody's gonna pull down or vandalize an MLK or Malcolm X statue at some point in retribution. That's when all hell is really gonna break loose.

If we're going to war over statues - on either side - we deserve whatever fate that brings.
Exactly. That's the MOST irritating and frustrating part of the entire thing, the fact its MOTHER frickING statues we're talking about. Statues that had NO EFFECT on much of anything besides applying a force to the ground upon which they stood.
It reminds me of this Texas Army general during the days of the Texas independence telling his army to bury their guns in the dirt so they wouldn't appear to look like soldiers.
We're going to look back on this time and we're going to see ourselves as complete lunatics, and I sincerely believe that.

This is what happens when you glorify these mob tactics as moral imperatives.
Unfortunately, only one side will get blamed for any wrongdoing which will, in turn, cause even more chaos.

Domino effect, statues are scratching the surface.
They'll demand cash reparations from tax money before it's all over with, welfare apparently isn't good enough anymore.
