Yesterday I had a discussion with my 20 year old daughter about social media activism and the "what now?" problem.

Social media is great for free advertising and getting messages out. However, in social media activism there are no leaders or organizers, and there are no policy people actually studying anything. This is the main difference between this kind of "movement" and the old school organizing.

Back in the day, actual human organizers had to be present to spread the message and organize the rallies. There was someone who could negotiate for the group, who could suggest a policy or concession which would address the grievance.

In social media, there is no face, no actual person, no specific policy negotiation. There is just advertising and people in the street, but no one with any greater depth of understanding of the political policy process to advocate for specific changes.

What next? Indeed. There are no actual policy or reform suggestions on the table. Nothing is actually being proposed, except that we all "should be better people."

Honestly a lot of their demands as far as police reform aren't entirely unreasonable but the black communities are having their 'moment' sort of high jacked by far leftists.

I feel like what will happen is a lot of money will be sent into black communities and none of it will do anything because, as always, the leaders and activists will enrich themselves.

Mark Zuckerberg once gave $250,000,000 to the Newark, NJ public school system and it didn't do a thing. The money vanished. He might as well have set it on fire. You'll just see that happening on a nation wide scale.
