Don't they like to see score under 2.0 or 1.5 in order to wait?

Just my opinion, based on my successful treatment...I chose radiation over surgery but I am 73....with 0 - 4 PSA # being normal, I 'd rely on my radiologist's opinion. I had ZERO after effects from my radiation treatments, 32 sessions, 20-25 minutes max each session, but again, my age was a factor for me. That and I wanted nothing to do with that catheter insertion for several weeks....smiles. Good luck, but do understand, prostate cancer is not a death knell by any means.

When was the last PSA done? Steady PSA is good. I know they typically say under 4, but they also say that as long as it's steady.

Was diagnosed with 3 cores positive and a Gleason of 6 PSA was 2 did active surveillance for 5 years PSA rose to 3 and did a fused biopsy that found some Gleason 7 disease. On the recommendation of an oncologist friend had a consult with a radiation oncologist who after an hour told me he had it too and was doing active surveillance and when it progressed he was having surgery. Had laparoscopic robotic assisted prostatectomy over a year ago so far disease free.

My psa was recently at 6.9, in august it was 5.3. The Dr was concerned about the fluctuations in the psa level. But I do have a spot about 1.2cm that is cancer.
I have a teleahealth visit with Mayo Clinic next Thursday and MD Anderson the following Monday.
My local urologist is suggesting removing the prostate.

That’s most common. Look into internal radiation. Tiny bits of radioactive pellets that kill the cancer cells. Lasts 40 days. Doesn’t harm anything else

Gleason score of 7. My local urologist suggested surgery but sent me to MD Anderson for a 2nd opinion. They recommended surgery also. It has been a year and cancer free so far. Had the robotic procedure. I was fortunate as it was about to spread.

Listen to the doctors and get all of the information you can and pray for direction.
