Not sure what was worse out of that whole debacle. $400 million for a bridge in the middle of nowhere or quadruple that just to add two lanes to an existing bridge in Jefferson Parish.

I said "our" out of habit dickface. Like I said, I grew up in Baton Rouge for the first 30 something years of my life. It doesn't matter where I live anyway.
Geismar is a shithole? The median household income here is $74,898. Baton Rouge's median is $38,790. And shall we even bring up homicide rates, or is that one too easy? Schools? Again, too easy. Not that Geismar is the be all to end all, but if it's a shithole, then EBR is a ruptured hemorrhoid on a shithole.
But even that being said, we have the same problems in Ascension Parish. The problem here is over development and neighborhood after neighborhood springing up, with no infrastructure improvement.
You don't live in the Parish and won't pay a dime in tax. So pretty much shut the frick up and complain about your Geismer problems in another thread.
I'm willing to bet you have never made a payroll on a Friday have you?

Since this one won't make it past the council, the Greenlight tax wasn't passed and the gas tax for the state did not even make it out of the committee just how does anyone propose we fix the traffic problem and substandard road situation in Baton Rouge and the state of Louisiana?
How bout spend what you've got and reallocate what you spend. You could close 8 of the 10 colleges we have for starters. How bout cut the size of our government. Think the comparison. I heard was we have as many state employees as PA or FL- states twice our size.
Reservoirs and pet projects could go. May not balance the budget, but you might be able to get what is needed. Not political gifts to donors

Yep, our budget and number of employees vs our revenue is ridiculous. Correcting that would solve 90% of our problems.

Right on time another jack off who complains about Baton Rouge roads in a Baton Rouge road thread yet doesn't even live in the Parish and wouldn't pay a dime towards fixing them.
Go sell your "close the colleges" argument in the proper thread. We're all out of dumbass in this one. Well as long as Reality Tiger is around I'll rephrase and say we've caught our limit.

Are the property taxes in Baton Rouge fair? I know in some parishes, you can have two people living side by side, with the same amount of property, with houses similar in value.. And one pays $150 in property taxes and the other pays $900..
For people who lived somewhere for a long time, they continue to pay what they paid when they first bought the property.
And this is a prime example of how the government can't manage its money or taxes. Why should we give them anymore until they can?

I don't know that it would fix 90% of our problems. But some semblance of responsibility from our elected officials would go a long way in forging some trust between the voters and politicians. This state has done nothing to make me think it can manage money. Till it does, I ain't supporting shite. And I'm not alone.

We shouldn't be one big welfare state supporting half the population with some useless government job. There's no way we should have more state employees than Georgia.
Posted on 9/13/17 at 9:32 pm to magildachunks
To be fair, most roads are over designed for their posted speed.
Posted on 9/13/17 at 9:37 pm to magildachunks
There was cases where the money wasn't spent on roads and bridges, but instead was spent on the State Police and the Ports.
Now the ports are transportation but many felt gasoline taxes should go to only roads and bridges.
Not illegal but not what voters wanted.

Wow. You're an angry little bitch aren't you? Thought you just wanted some ideas. If you feel like paying more in taxes, write a check.
You're the typical NIMBY douche resident. You want your commute to work to be shorter and more enjoyable. You want a better business atmosphere. You want a "better" Baton Rouge. But you refuse to get your fiscal shite together. you want to keep the status quo on spending. And don't make government smaller, cause I bid on government jobs and need government spending, right. Nothing will change as long as people like you keep electing the same tards to office. But you'll keep electing them cause YOU benefit. frick everyone else. You're part of the problem slick.

Then call your congressman and tell him to allocate general fund money to the highway trust fund

I know my property taxes went up a couple years ago because of democrats who voted for CATS transportation. Talk about more wasteful spending.

The state wastes an unbelievable amount of money on bullshite pet projects and ignores the infrastructure - especially in Baton Rouge
Exactly, the very fact that I-10 narrows to one lane and nothing has been done about it despite numerous complaints proves you right.
It's absurd that a coast to coast highway is configured as it is and nothing has been done to correct the faulty designed highway.

Same. So we could have buses drive around all day with 3 people on them. It would be much cheaper for us to pay for their damn Uber fares

It's a road tax chief. Period. You go through my post history and you will find exactly one tax that I have supported. Roads. Roads. Get that through your head. Roads. Roads are good for everyone not just me but everyone. Want to grow? Build roads. Period. My commute to my office is 27 steps from my bedroom to my office.
Your intelligence or lack of shows in your response. NIMBY? What the frick does that mean? I don't want a road in my yard? I want to keep the "statue quo' the frick? I bid on government jobs? I benefit from Sharon Broome? You can't even make up good rebuttals. You have no idea what I do but rest assured it isn't Government work.
As I have said before 30 % of my work product is South Louisiana. 70% is in 4 other states. I only have peace of mind and burn less fuel with improved roads and I'm not one who uses inefficient or wasteful government spending as an excuse to NOT pursue progress. No way in hell even if this city or state was as efficient and transparent as it could ever be will you support anything. You are nothing more than a crybaby and will live your life content to complain. Enjoy being miserable.

Enough property taxes. It's what drove all of the wealth of out of nola and destroyed it. The democrats here are trying to follow that same model. The property owners are the only ones with skin in the game.

I see that Chandler Loupe didn't vote.
Does anyone get out of more controversial votes than Loupe.
The guy is spineless.
I'll support any decent candidate running against him. I'd hope some of you guys would do the same.
