I lived in EBR for 32 years and to be honest, my place of current residence is irrelevant to discussion. I'll be the first to admit that Ascension Parish is the exact same way.

Not only are the roads in bad shape and far over loaded, they don't even use what they have right. They need to make main thouroughfares like Airline and Florida expressways, with cross traffic going under of having longer lights. That would help flow more traffic better at peak times, but to be done right would take a lot of added construction.

Seems like they build a string of neighborhoods that are fed by two lane highways then, 3 years later, they relocate the utilities, fill in the ditches, then widen the road.

They are not doing it anywhere near fast enough. That's another area that isn't getting a lot of state and federal support for infrastructure too.

FIFY. And they don't 4 lane it. They add a suicide lane up the middle (Hwy 73). And as another poster stated, a traffic signal every 100 yards, with none of them synchronized in any logical order to promote traffic flow. Same as EBRP.

Bull. They spent $30 million in state tax dollars alone on a new building for a New Orlean's children's museum just this year.
This while bridges and roads all over the state are crumbling and they are asking for more tax dollars.
There is an immense amount of waste on pet projects going on while the state demands more from taxpayers. If they got more funding, they'd waste even more on unnecessary pet projects.
The biggest infrastructure initiative in the state of Louisiana's history provided shite for East Baton Rouge or Lafayette. That wasn't very long ago.
