Currently the airport is pretty nice as far as small airports go
Most people consider the current airport old, ugly, and inefficient. So, yes, its a perfect representation of the city.

This new airport was a money grab
The fact that there arent any roads going to it is typical louisiana

Was this the point of you starting this thread? Just so you could throw a jab at New Orleans?

I see several likely illegal parking traps, but it’ll be tough to hide tow trucks with all that wide open space.
And if the city wants to make money from red light cams they should have designed more intersections into the approaches.
Summary: As a new money trap it needs work, and NOLA will need to enact some special “airport taxes” to make up the difference until they can extort from vehicular traffic with higher efficiency.

No, I was just joking.
I like the new terminal. It's just in a bad location as far as access.

per nola website
"Once completed, the North Terminal is slated to feature three concourses, 35 gates, a 2,190-car parking garage, an in-line baggage system and a consolidated checkpoint, according to the mayor's office. It's scheduled to open in February 2019, according to the airport's website"

That's it? Looks quite small compared to current terminal.

Moisant is New Orleans, not Kenner.

I noticed that they left out the trash on the floor, the long lines, and the employees playing on their phones while customers wait.

Are the roads leading up to the airport considered Kenner or New Orleans?

It’s property with boundaries like any other. I assume Williams Blvd and Airline Hwy along that stretch are all Kenner.

Yes, I just looked it up - the main road (which will be temporary) to the terminal is funded through the city of Kenner.
The new, permanent access road from I-10 will cost $90 million.

haven't been following this. What are the plans for the current terminal?
Partly demolished. Partly used for charter ops and airport admin staff

Uhh it does NOT have as many actual gates as the existing airport and it is a waste of taxpayer money.
It was not needed by the flying public.
It is a Landrieu boondoggle built to enrich his supporters and his cousin.

Are all the gates at MSY utilized now?

I don't really understand the need. Currently the airport is pretty nice as far as small airports go.
Not really.
Security check point lay out at the current one is very inefficient. Baggage handling lay out sucks.
It was way over due for a modern terminal to be built.

As a pretty frequent flyer I LOVE the existing terminal.
I fly SWA a lot--twice a month or more--and I love parking at US Park and getting dropped off at the first door and walking the mere 20-25 yards to TSA on the B concourse. I can park and be at the gate in no more than 15 minutes.
How can you be more efficient than that???
The boondoggle proponents talk about efficiency and crap like that but in reality the local flyers are not going to see many advantages in the new terminal. Parking will be further away. Rental cars further away.
Landrieu Concrete loves it. LINK
I met one of the job managers for a major out of state contractor on the construction site and she told me it is by far the most corrupt job they have ever been on. They have to accommodate all kinds of sub contractors with political connections.
