Same with Chapelle--decent school in the 70s and 80s, but has been crappy for a long time. I went to Mount Carmel; most of my friends had moms who graduated from Chapelle during the late 70s and early 80s and their moms even admitted that Chapelle was not a good school and that they were glad their daughters chose MCA over Chapelle.
This just isn't true. Chapelle is still a good school. Yeah, Rummel has gone down but Chapelle has not.

I'm calling BS! Either BS or there are alot of prestigious colleges being lied to then, because those kids don't leave there and go to average colleges.

So, as a student, you have had 23 kids kicked out since 8th grade. What kind of student are you exactly? Sounds more like you work for a school and are pumping sunshine up everyone's arse while degrading other schools for your benefit.

You really think Jesuit would have prepared you more for college?

Compared to Rummel for instance, absolutely. It's not even a question. I had 4 close friends from elementary school that went to Rummel. Not one got a degree. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but the work I did at Jesuit compared to what they did was nothing alike.

And no, I'm not suggesting you can't be successful from Rummel. Very many people are.

It's good. Seems to have a high suicide rate though.

I did not attend any school in New Orleans so I have no dog in this fight. However, when it comes to average SAT scores, National Merit Scholars, and college placement, Newman is so far ahead of every other private school that it makes a Polish horseback unit fighting German tanks look like a fair fight.

I think it costs about 20k per year though in high school.

I don't have a dog in this fight at all, but if we're basing opinions from anecdotes I only know one person who went to Rummel and he has a degree and works for a highly respected company in his field.

My younger sister is about to be a senior at St Martins. The counselors push kids to go to prestigious schools. Probably 25% of the kids are planning on staying in-state. She doesn't have "awesome" test scores, about average, but her counselor's advice was for her to go to Boston College, Northwestern, Pepperdine, NYU, or Columbia.

I think it is ridiculous that they push elite, ivy leagues on the east or west coast at them as better than any schools in different parts of the country, but what do I know?

You are way off. Tuition for all school sis within a $200 or so with De La Salle being the only exception as it is around $1,000 more thn the rest. It is pretty obvious that you are a Brother Martin student. Holy Cross, I did not attend school there, is ranked above Brother Martin academically and actually has a waiting list to get in. Holy Cross is also a rival of Brother martin so I was not surprised to see you rank it poorly.

I graduated from STM in '86. Tuition was around $6500 back in the day. The school has always been about promoting excellence in education. The school wants to look good, and many parents want to brag where Johnny and Susie are going to college.

My Senior class had 45 students and I was in the bottom 10% .... 24 ACT and more B's than C's. At least 10 of my classmates went off to Stanford, Harvard, Princeton, Brown, Pepperdine, Duke, Vanderbilt, Yale, etc..... on academic scholarships. I had partial scholarships to play football at Rhodes, Millsaps, Washington & Lee, and Hampton Sydney. Because my heart wasn't in it, and my priorities were backwards, I choose to stay in state and go to LSU to party like a rock star

FWIW, my younger brother graduated from HC in '89 and went on to play college FB at Ole Miss and Troy St. Went to school for free b/c of his academics while earning an undergraduate and MBA. Neither of us have any regrets on HS or colleges.
