East Cobb has good public schools. It’s not an option for us because

1. We live in Sandy Springs, not East Cobb.
2. Not trying to be a dick, but I kind of want my kids to be exposed to rich kids and network with rich kids.
3. The class sizes will be small regardless of whether they are in AP classes or regular classes. The individual attention they will receive will help them tremendously.

This post makes me feel a little better about the $12k coming out of my bank account in a few weeks for my 2. We're in Tangipahoa Parish, LA - kids are going into 4th and 2nd. It'll double when they get to high school.

Kracka - I’m originally from NI and went to Mt. Carmel. I graduated in ‘83 and tuition that year was $110/month! My dad said it cost more to send me to MCA than it did to LSU as a freshman.

How much is private school in Houston?

I know Strake Jesuit is just under $30k and Saint Thomas Episcopal is right at $33k for 2026-2027. Those amounts are for high school.

$20k+ is standard in big metros. Some even get up to $30-40k

$15k for a good one in a smaller city. Maybe even $10k

$10k is the absolute max in a small town, often closer to $5k

These are all annual costs and they slightly increase as the age increases. Many have a small discount for each subsequent child that attends. Some actually don’t charge after 4+ (mostly Catholic schools)

Also all things considered Catholic schools are usually slightly less than the others (but maybe not always by much)

For what age? High school? Because that would be the same as Atlanta private schools for high school.

You can extend that out of BR, to the entire south, including Texas

My parents did it to keep us from getting bussed to Glen Oaks
Oh good Lordt. I knew a bunch of kids that got sent to Glen Oaks from Central. Really improved the GO Baseball program. They all survived. 2 are BRPD now. The other half got sent to school with me at Baker, along with half of Scotlandville High when they closed it. I made it fine in public school in EBRP.

I never really realized how much of a struggle it must have been for my parents to send me to Catholic schools….

Kinkaid is ~$40K, but those Houston millionaires can easily afford it

Catholic school in the Biloxi area for K and PK3 is about 11-12K or so a year.

About the same as what we pay for daycare.

Once the youngest is in K, it will drop to 8K/year.

I went to private school my whole life. The education was very average, but we didn't have to have police on campus.

Every private school is different. I went to a highly rated public school and my kids are getting a much better education at private than I did
