Before you say Atlanta is a shithole, because I have lived in Atlanta I have been to the Olympics, multiple World Series, the CFP National championship game, the Super Bowl, the final four, the MLB Allstar Game, and I will go to the World Cup.
How hard is it to go to an event a few hrs away? Basing your standard of living off of sporting events seems ignorant.
I live in Charleston can go to Charlotte, Jacksonville or Atlanta is a few hours.

Westminster eh? Excellent choice.

This! I remember when we tried to get our first kid into St Cecilia in Broussard, they checked our activity at Sacred Heart to see what/if we put envelopes in the offering every week. They don't come right out and say, but it ends up mattering when it comes to whether your child gets accepted or stays on that waiting list.
We went through the application process for Lafayette schools recently, it’s stated that “active” parishioners are higher on the acceptance “tiers” than non-parishioners or non-active parishioners. Basically you have to contribute $500/yr to be considered active. I knew this before we started the process so we were “actively” contributing members of our top 2 parishes for a year before we started the admissions process.

How much is private school in Houston?
Posted on 4/10/26 at 10:57 am to Porter Osborne Jr
Not Westminster. I don’t think Westminster has pre K or kindergarten.

There are varying levels of “private” school.
Considering top tier in the Atlanta area are @ 30k a year for pre-k and kindergarten, you could be at a better school paying more.

There aren’t any Atlanta private schools that charge 30k+ for kindergarten and Preschool. There are some that charge that for high school. And when my kids get up to high school it will cost that much or more if I keep them in their current school.

It's also keeping them away from the average Baton Rouge public school kid. Can we be honest with ourselves and admit that's 99% of the reason private schools exist in EBR parish?
Well, catholic schools would still exist. I think there's an argument that can be made that because the public schools here are so abysmally bad, it's made the catholic community that much stronger. If the EBRPSS schools weren't so awful, I think there would be significantly less catholic students. I don't think it's 99% but it's definitely in the higher range.
BR public schools are horrendous. And I think keeping a child in them (other than schools like Mayfair, or charter schools) is absolutely a form of child abuse. If you want to be some kind of community advocate, and essentially experiment on your child for liberal cred...well. Congrats on your cheap schools but when you close your eyes at bedtime, just remember: Garbage in/Garbage out. I do think it's possible for a kid to learn something in them but every day, they're running for their lives. If it's that important to you to avoid paying for schools, at least move to Ascension or Livingston. Otherwise... good luck.

FIFY, my public school friend.

With three children, private school tuition was not a possibility; therefore, we relocated to Ascension parish.

My son is in kindergarten. His tuition is $22k. My daughter is 3. Her tuition is $18k. We live in the Atlanta metropolitan area.

I typed @30k not 30k+, but …
Westminster (they call it pre-first, not kindergarten), Trinity and Woodward
Are all 29-36k apparently. Add in the extras they gif you with and you are over 30k
Look at the pick up line. Are all the mom’s in tennis outfits/Workout clothes and driving Range Rover, Lexus, Porsche, Rivian SUVs?
If so, you are at a top tier kindergarten.

15k for 3 year old in Nola
Posted on 4/10/26 at 11:25 am to Uga Alum
15k a kid
It fricking sucks, but it's a great school. We have a good public school nearby and tried it, but the teacher to student ratio and lack of extra curriculars really got me. And just the general behavior of the children going unmanaged. Some wild arse kids with obviously shitty parents.
Switching them to private has transformed my kids. It's wonderful.

~15k per kid for elementary/junior high.
High school will either be 18k or 27k, so im sure it'll be higher by the time my kids make it to high school
