My son is in kindergarten. His tuition is $22k. My daughter is 3. Her tuition is $18k.
$5k + $1k supply fee for my 1st grader and a 10% discount on that for my PKer at the same school

Daughter in Pre-K 4 of a Catholic private school, but next year's tuition for Kindergarten will be the same.
$4,700 tuition
$450 books, supplies, etc.
$100 roughly for Teacher's supply list
---------
$5,250 for the year.
If I had to pay roughly $75K a year for three kids, they would go to public schools.

Tuition, fees and lunch about 12 a year, I moved mine after years in public school, and it was a great public school. Wish I had done it sooner though, no stress, almost zero homework and socially it is so much better for them.

I’m glad I went to a good public schools in the Houston suburbs

I think when the last one graduated in '18 it was maybe $850. I honestly can't remember. but short of 1k. where we lived there was really no legitimate alternative. (I went there as well)
very small school in Alabama. great campus but the general area has seen a decline in the last 20-30 yrs. all the white collars/nicer blue collars are dying or moving away.

See my prior post where I have cited all the cool shite I’ve experienced from living in Atlanta.

As someone who has kids in private school... Thats fricking absurd
Buddy of mine was a teacher at a high end private high school, later became public high school principal. His feeling was until kids are about 10 it doesn’t matter where they go. Part of this is because it takes boys that long to catch up to girls academically.
As for what I paid, topped out at about $40k for private high school about 10 years ago.

Generally speaking in Houston you’re at least $25,000/yr for a good one. There are several that are more expensive in which you’re essentially paying to be in a club; they also require a donation (this is true for at least one — Kincaid)
Or you buy a $1.25mm+ house zoned for Memorial or Stratford. Or you go to a good suburb — Woodlands, Kingwood, Bridgeland, Katy’ish, etc)

Actually, at my son’s school they build robots, they are already learning Spanish, and they are reading basic sentences in kindergarten. I’m pleased with the education. It’s a lot more than “coloring.”
We went to the school and saw the robots that they built. It was impressive. Again, he’s only in kindergarten.

A bit of nostalgia from an old-timer that probably won't make any of you that are paying now feel any better:
In the 70s, I went to a small, rural Catholic elementary school. Once a month my parents would give me an envelope with a check to bring to school for paying the tuition.
It was only $40 a month - for BOTH of us.
A quick inflation calculator says that would be about $300 a month today.
So $300 a month for 9 months would be $2,700 for two or $1,350 each.

North end zone went to Annunciation in Bogalusa, cause I've heard that story 1,000 times from the locals. FYI it's full of charter school kids now. For those like me that paid, it runs about $6,000 a year now.

I'm in Lafourche, but it was similar.
There used to be a huge community fair/festival every May that would fund quite a bit of the school's operating expenses. Most Catholic church parishes had those type of fairs back in the 70s and 80s.
