Not trying to get too deep into the weeds on the analytics here but cost of living between Georgia and Louisiana aren't apples and oranges ... It's more Red apples vs honey crisp.. they ain't that different

Too many parents throwing money into the bottomless baseball pit.

Try an obscure sport which will be the next blow up sport.

Yes they are. Louisiana is less expensive. I’d rather live in the North Atlanta Metropolitan Area than Louisiana, though. So I’ll pay for it.

Before you say Atlanta is a shithole, because I have lived in Atlanta I have been to the Olympics, multiple World Series, the CFP National championship game, the Super Bowl, the final four, the MLB Allstar Game, and I will go to the World Cup.

don't keep up these days but for years the easiest sports ticket to getting college scholarship money was girls golfing, don't have to even know how to play golf, and out west, water polo

If it's anything like Baton Rouge Catholic schools ,you may want to start donating and getting involved in Church activities now in order to build the parent resume.

This! I remember when we tried to get our first kid into St Cecilia in Broussard, they checked our activity at Sacred Heart to see what/if we put envelopes in the offering every week. They don't come right out and say, but it ends up mattering when it comes to whether your child gets accepted or stays on that waiting list.

Starting in July it will be $13K a kid. I wish there was a better alternative but needing before and aftercare limits your options.

Before and after! Seems like they sleep at your house and you have the weekends.
At what point are you paying for someone else to raise your kids 5 out of 7 days a weeks.

I'd be broke if I had to send my kids to St. Pius

Sounds like you’re paying ~7k per kid, it’s only ~9k at St Pius. That extra 4k is going to make you broke?

I have 1 at Cathedral Carmel (Catholic school) in Lafayette and it’s roughly 9k per year.

In CO, roughly $60k for 2 kids in HS plus another $10k for incidentals (they don’t even ask, they just include the kid in the plan and send the bill). Middle School was a little more. There are 4 desirable co-Ed private high schools. 2 religious ones are $30k, the others are about $45k-$50k. There is nothing between $0 and $30k. There are several good public schools with an ability to attend if you are out of district and one great public school with a strict residency requirement (some people rent apartments just to use the address). I know families that have one kid in public and another in private. It’s all about fit. Freshmen year I thought we were wasting money, but by sophomore year I realized that it was money well spent.

I think school success is very dependent on the kid, regardless of the environment.

It's also keeping them away from the average Baton Rouge public school kid. Can we be honest with ourselves and admit that's 99% of the reason private schools exist in EBR parish?

That's exactly the reason they exist. I went to private school my whole life. The education was very average, but we didn't have to have police on campus.

All in with fees and all the other extraneous bullshite it comes out to be about 30k/year for 3 kids. Worth it vs the alternative, but I wish it wasn't.

The cheat code is to live in a rich area where all/most families opt to send their kids to the one or two public schools in the area. Basically creates a defacto private school environment but you don't have to shell out for tuition.

I didn't say it wasn't.. It just not a drastic difference.. Both states fall in the below average cost of living in the US.. Yes Georgia does rank a tad higher but its not were comparing LA and say Cali or Mass or the worst offender Hawaii..
