Did he miss his approach on the return? That's why he had to circle around a 2nd time? You can see him approaching the turning right just as he was getting close to the runway.

From what I’ve seen it’s a power issue, likely engines. They were taking off from that airport heading to Florida then the Bahamas. Took off, tried to return due to issue, didn’t make it.

Lots of the major airlines use old jets.

Stats say the car ride to the airport is now dangerous than the flight. For my ex's daughters 7th birthday i took her flying and let her sit right seat and do some manuvers. It was a highlight for her.

it ain’t like it hadn’t been re done multiple times. I’m sure the airframe was fine.

A plane that old is very common. If you would have saw that place before the crash you’d probably wouldn’t have guessed it was that old. If you maintain an aircraft which this one was, you can keep them in great shape.

Looks like every other PJ out there if you don't know what you're looking at.

Heartbreaking. I watched his whole career, beginning with the Killer Bs in the truck series and on to Busch and Cup.

Plane and helicopter crashes have taken their toll on NASCAR folks. Ones that come to mind:

Davey Allison
Alan Kulwicki
Hendrick family and team (12 people)
Jack Roush came close to dying in a plane crash but was miraculously rescued by a game warden who saw the crash.
Dale Junior and his wife had to crawl out of a burning plane after a crash.

Not the Biff!

He was awesome on cleets channel and had his own up and running. Seemed like a great guy. Was responsible for getting cleetus into NASCAR.

these baws think that because they drive cars that go sort of fast and continuously turn left that it transfers to being able to jump a jet and be proficient, sad thing is they take people with them that trust them and don’t know any better

Unless I was literally a 737 airline pilot for a major airline, I could never see myself taking my family up in an airplane that I myself was flying. What an awful situation. Can you imagine looking at your kids/wife in a crashing airplane, knowing that this is the end for all of you - and it all happened by your hand?
And yet surely you drive them everywhere without thinking twice.

It's OK. Humans are terribly built for accurate risk assessment.

I’m pretty sure he had professional pilots. Do you really think he was flying this aircraft?

I’ll never fly private. Those are the ones that go down, not the big USA airliners!
How about driving private? Will you do that?
