But God would know..right?

I don't think it was suicide, I think the combination of drugs and illness caught up with him. Probably thought he was just taking a break and resting in the elevator and just slipped away.It happens to people all the time. They get found sitting in their recliner,at the wheel of their car,in a hammock in the backyard. He was 57 right? 40 of those years was hard partying and not exactly a healthy lifestyle.

When you are famous though, people try to make it more than it really is. Death don't give a shite if you are famous.

Disagree. If he OD'd it wasn't on purpose. Instead, it was the classic Happy Trails Cocktail of meds: painkillers, xanax or valium, antidepressants, maybe some soma or cyclobenzaprene, sleeping pills, all in excessive combination.

That's the stuff you usually find in a OD'd star--meds in excessive combination, due to prolonged use, increasing tolerance, and the self-medicator's ultimate downfall: disregard for the lethal potential of mixing meds.

Percocets

I'm betting it was a combination of drugs, if indeed drugs were involved at all.

Something along these lines is what I'd expect. A brilliantly talented person with physical and emotional pain and the proper people around him that can provide these substances. To top it off, he was fairly small and probably increasingly frail as his body began to break down.

Prince was a great performer, but 'never see another like him in our lifetime'? I don't think he's on quite the same pedestal as MJ or Elvis, and there are a ton of top 20 of all time potentially performers still alive.

I'm not sure it will ever be an 'official' suicide, but I also don't think dying in an elevator was a complete ignorant 'accident'. In other words, he knowingly took too many pills of some sort that led to him being so weak, frail, and uncounscious it ended in his death. Maybe you don't mean to die in that matter, but you certainly are tired of life. The only way I'll believe different is if it comes out he was in the last stages of his life due to AIDS. Considering he still had concert dates on the books I'm not sure that is the case.

Only if you could before hand. With appropriate pain relief, people are functional. That's the goal. Unfortunately and what many don't understand is that functional and "appropriate" pain relief is not pain free. If you are pain free in many cases, you are overmedicated and risks of adverse side effects go up exponentially. Sometimes on purpose, sometimes not. People on chronic pain meds have shorter life spans. He could have done it intentionally or he could have been self medicating to try and get some relief. I'm sure constant performances in high heels are hell on bad hips and ankles. He may have just said frick it. I'm gonna feel good and I'm gonna play my music and entertain until I die. If being in less pain leads to a shorter life, frick it. That's not suicide. And it's a problem many people with chronic pain run into. Be less active and take less or be themselves, do the shite they want and require more meds. It's a complicated issue that the uneducated always chalk up to "dope head pt's and greedy pill pushing doctors".

ETA-so my theory is intentional overmedication but unintentional death. But I think he probably made a conscious decision. Most people think it will never happen to them though. They just want to feel good. Especially with his history of clean living and JW background. I've never heard of any other stories of Prince and substance abuse.

It's obvious that he was murdered. Hopefully Courtney won't get away with it this time.

There are way too many misconceptions and way too little education pertaining to chronic pain management. The abusers and shitheads have skewed people's opinions of the medicines, the patients, and the doctors. So now we have a situation in which everyone on chronic pain meds are labeled "seekers" "Pill heads" or some other derogatory term, doctors fear being labeled pill pushers or being accused of being legal drug dealers. This leads to your better doctors that should be rx'ing and overseeing pain pt's being scared to and legit pt's having to seek care from less reputable and less ethical sources if they choose to seek care at all. Nothing pisses me off more than some of the ill informed, self righteous dickbags that post on here and in other forums about shite they have no clue about.

It's a complex problem and stigmatizing legit pain pt's does nothing but worsen it. I've seen legit pt's lower themselves to obtaining pills illegally because they fear being labeled drug seekers by their PCP or other docs. Of course, I've seen docs willing to write whatever someone wants if they can pay the price. But MOST pt's on pain management are legit and MOST doctors prescribing their meds do it because they think it's the best or only option to lessen the patient's symptoms.

Who knows if it was an overdose but we all know what is really going on here. The #1 website for all blinds reported on 4/18/16(3 days before his death) that he contracted HIV in the 90s & then changed his life completely as he became very religious.(Remember that?) It stated last year he thought he was cured for some reason & stopped taking his medication & his days were now numbered. 3 days later he is dead. This website is never wrong. The question is are the family & associates handling his estate going to admit it or leave it to toxicology results to tell everyone the real story. That remains to be seen.

On a more personal note, there was no other performer like Prince. The rock people loved him, The R&B/soul people adored him. The dance lovers got him. He was the complete package & will be missed. I just wish entertainers today had 1/10 of the musical & performing talent that he had.
