Posted on the H&F board for serious answers, but wanted to hear from the legends of the OT.

Can you pass this now?? Not when in high school, now?!!

So I have been training my kids and started to do some research on the old presidential fitness test we use to take as a kid. I was shocked at what they need to be able to do get in the top 85%, hell even top 50%. How many of yall could pass(50%) much less score in the top 85% for lets say a 12 year old.

Curl-ups=situps

Events-

-Situps
-Shuttle Run
-V-Sit Reach
-One Mile Run
-Pull Ups
-Pushups

I could do the pullups, pushups, situps and prolly the shuttle run. Big no on the mile and very iffy on the V-Sit reach.

I'd bet 80% of the fatties on this board can't do A pull-up, let alone 7

I got that award in 7th, 8th, and 9th grade. Coach had to let me do shuttle run a few times to qualify.

That V-Sit reach always fricked me up. I have absurdly long legs and poor flexibility. I'd completely frick up the mile run at this point, due to a decade of blasting cowboy killers.

you arent in 7th/8th or 9th grade anymore.

Question is if you can do it now?

Is this where we come to brag about our younger selves?

I got that award every year we did it 2-8th grade

ETA: just looked at the list, I’m pretty positive I could do the 12 yr old test. Only thing I’m not sure about is the 50 curl ups in a minutes, seems like a lot. Everything else I’m 100% positive I could do

I was a grade-A nerd at that age and the only muscles I had were gained by pulling myself out of the trash cans after being stuffed in there by the bigger kids. 50% would have been hard for me.

I see about 2 people (other than me) in my gym who regularly do pull ups. It's one of the best upper body strength exercises you can do. But damn, some baws will bench press, delt raise, tricep cable, and curl the shite out of an upper body workout.

Until I understood gender differences, I was always pissed that girls got to do a hang time instead of pull-ups.

I don’t remember doing any of this in grammar school. Our lesbian PE coach used this time for her girls teams to scrimmage the boys teams.

I doubt it. They cut the program I believe in like 2012 or something, so kind of pre-PC BS.

So stupid they stopped this, its needs to come back. The countries overall fitness, especially among males, is a danger to society and makes us weak.

Need to implement a strict PFT training program in elementary and implement LA Sierra program in middle and high school kids.

Shuttle run was always my downfall. Didn't have much problem with the rest of them.

I made presidential twice and national the other 5 or 6 times, but that was hilariously easy.
