Get a paternity test now, you can get one while the kid is in the womb. I wouldnt go any further till you know it yours.
As for her not following up on stuff, tell her to grow up and be an adult. If shes not telling you whats holding up the divorce she is lying to you. She knows.
As for your bad decisions, please tell us she lied about being on birth control. If not you are an idiot for nutting in a girl your casually screwing. You made a very bad decision buddy. Your post history shows you already have two kids, so you do know how kids are made.
Your last resort can always be gathering all the other possible baby daddies and see if Maury wants to do a show about you.

She's been to A lawyer to finalize but they are dragging their feet and from what she told me it could be a couple months.
Sounds like the lawyer is trying to locate a witness by the name of mr. Green. Pay your attorney you get things done.

You don't understand the concept of insurance.

She didn't know the ex's insurance for her was dropped so the 60 day window is up.
He's not an ex at this point.
How far along is she in the pregnancy?
quote:
She's trying to finalize the divorce but it's taking forever. Once that is done that qualifies for her to get insurance through the school, but there's no telling when it will be finalized. She is horrible at following up on stuff.
Does she have an attorney? If she's horrible on following up on things, that's her own fault. She may have created part of the problem, unfortunately.

Why would she be denied for Medicaid?
She's married for one thing and she may make too much money.

And does anyone know how to expedite the divorce process? Once that's done everything will be ok, and the year LA requires had definitely lapsed, but how do I make the divorce go faster?
If she doesn't have an attorney, she needs one. There's nothing you can do to make it go any faster.

It "might" be? This nice person isn't sure who all she was having sex with at the same time?
If you think it "might" be your child, start paying for some doc visits to take care of her and the child. It's a risk if you're not sure the child is yours, but there's a risk to the child's health if the baby is yours if you don't and you seem to like her a lot. When she's finally divorced, hopefully, she can get some insurance coverage of some sort
When she was dropped, was there no Cobra letter to her?

To OP, doesn't sound like you're telling the whole truth.
But worst case scenario, for the sake of the child, there are charities that help with this kind of stuff.
Good luck, and both get your shite together

Sounds like a case of not being able to help someone who can't help herself.
Is she under 26? Adopt her and put her on your insurance. Not sure what you expect. There are very few options and they've all been layed out for you/her. Sounds like there is a weak excuse for why each one won't work.
Loan her the money with a contract to pay you back. Help her pay without expecting repayment. Tell her to start sucking dick for money. Tell her to get a shmasmortion from the shmasmortion clinic, and then feel like a guilty failure the rest of her life.

Current husband's divorce attorney will have a field day with this.

Yep. Fault in a marriage precludes final spousal support to the at fault spouse. Adultery=fault. If he files a 103 on adultery basis he will be able to prove it easily with you being the father. So no spousal support for her either

not the rules in my state, adultery means nada, and the current husband still on the hook for support, fricked up situation indeed
Posted on 7/22/16 at 5:15 pm to 777Tiger
Child also is presumed to be the child of the husband so husband will have to file a disavowal as well

I think it's a good rule that's fair. What state are you in?

I keep hearing about upcoming so-called FC reform but don't see much evidence of it if there's been no recent change where I'm at, current hubby gets to pay for 18 years for his wife being a little tramp
Posted on 7/22/16 at 5:23 pm to 777Tiger
Well he would be on the hook for CS here too unless he disavows paternity.

Frick that dude. I'd rather die from the flu and stick it to the man than pay for freaking health insurance.
Love that logic.

Has there been any helpful info posted here? I used to work in Medicaid downtown and could help put her in touch with the right people for her parish to help determine eligibility.
You will need to fill out forms online first.
Then you will need to visit the local office where she is located.
There is a formula that helps determine eligibility that takes into account all assets, including things like vehicles.

No, she and the idiot she whored with are the irresponsible assholes. Her sort are what is wrong with this country. Illigitimacy and lack of responsibility are main factors in so many negative outcomes like poverty and crime.

Nope. She's a screw up and the next problem is right around the corner.

Ah, and you're a screw up too. Nice job buddy. Handouts are on their way.

Spoken like a soon to be attorney. Good luck on the bar exam btw. When you pass, you should offer your services to these irresponsible people. Give them some advice on follow up skills too.
