According to her Facebook page, she needed a ride to court last Thursday. Oh, and she works or has worked at Hooters in the past.

1. More than likely some SJW women's lib group or the ACLU will claim this is a bull shite charge forcing s woman in jail because she is pregnant. A guy wouldn't get the same treatment, they'd argue.
2. I was unaware of white folks in the Pleasant Grove area of Birmingham.
For those who do not know about this town, you can say there's about as much pleasant about Pleasant Grove as there is green about Greenland.

My friend just published an article on al.com about how Alabama and later the DEA banned the plant kratum from the public.
Kratum is a natural plant that is successfully used to treat opiod addiction, as it has natural inhibitors that attach to the opiod receptors in the brain and block the need/desire for heroin/roxy/oxy/etc.
This nation needs to look inward rather than projecting outward our desire to blame addiction on our neighbors. My bet is not one of the "holier than thou" posters in this thread is without knowledge of a family or friend who has not been addicted to opiods.
Instead of punishing them, we need to help them. She has been arrested once. Did she receive treatment, and if so, was it anything more than empty methadone treatment? We know the answer to that.
We will never fix a wholistic problem with a bandaid solution. But it sure is fun to point, laugh, and ridicule those who have fallen, right?
The solution to the opiod epidemic in this nation can be found in Portugal, who has similar issues in the 80's and 90's, decriminalized ALL DRUGS, and their heroin use plummeted.

I'll never understand why intensive inpatient therapy isn't more of the norm rather than jail. Relapse is almost a certainty either way but oversight, support and hope damn sure isn't found lying on a thin plastic pallet waiting for more commissary credit.

Not really no. Even though it seems to have the potential for that, almost every single opiate addict that uses it, does so in conjunction with continued opiate use.
Also, it's spelled Kratom, and the DEA ban doesn't take effect until the 30th, so stock up.

Did the opioids get the piece of white trash pregnant the first time? How about the second time?
I have sympathy for addicts and hatred for big pharma and law enforcement/govmt policy when it comes to this. I don't give anyone a pass for repeatedly getting knocked up while addicted though.
