I 100% blame the media for stoking the fear that has caused the economy to plunge.

We’ll have accurate data of mortality rates when ICU beds were available versus mortality rates after hospitals hit capacity. Pretty sure you can get a rough estimate from that. I know your point is regarding financial impact, but we will know in time how much was accomplished by doing this. If anything, the UK will provide the data we need.

.00002 fatality rate? Call it a third of the country infected and 2300 deaths?

Don’t get me wrong, I hope you are right

For those that think the media is blowing this out of proportion. I agreed with you about a week ago. And I still mostly do.

I think what concerns me is that Trump/Republicans...who measure their own success on any given day by the success of the economy...why are they panicking? Why is Trump taking steps to contain the virus that cripples the economy? I think there’s no way he does that unless he has all the experts in his office advising that this is really freaking bad.

The government is saying don’t panic, but they are shutting the entire economy down. We don’t do that for nothing. Especially Republicans. What do they know?

They have to have data that justifies these measures.

2020 Coronavirus deaths= 405

Just so you know at the current rate we will cross 405 deaths by March 25th, assuming nothing changes.

If you plot out the deaths on a log graph it is a basically linear slope.

My personal thinking is they think the death rate is rather small, but that this thing spreads like fire. A large number of people could have little to no symptoms, but still test positive. But with tests still rolling out, there will be hysteria by a large number of people who will want the test. Best thing to do is order everyone to stick put for a while and only seek the test if they feel symptoms

Because if he did nothing, the media would throw literally the ultimate shite-fit. More so than they are now. He's in the ultimate lose lose situation right now.

135 million estimated infected, (we will stop testing in May) 500k dead plus or minus 5%. provided health system can handle it and we get our shite together. Best case.

If not dead will be 1.5 to 3 million dead. Worst case.

If complete Societal collapse, and critical drug shortage, you can push number over 5 million maybe even 10 million.

Is that real enough for you? Lol

Research it. Even Trumps people are using these numbers now. The economic damage is going to be much much worse. Some countries will collapse.

Or maybe he's doing what the experts in the field are telling him is the best way to handle this.

That ever cross your mind?

Final death toll will be about 7,500. The actual infected rate will be a number much much higher that I dont care to guess.
