A GOOD story to help with the downs of this thread.
I coached for 17 years in little league. I drafted twins one year. Average height and weight, really polite, soft-spoken kids. At 11 they were just a little better than average. They went to LSU baseball camp between the seasons. And also began to work out. Before that season, I had one player hit 3 HRs, that was the most HRs in one season I had coached. The twins came back from camp.....the first game together they hit 3 HRs. (HRs were rather uncommon in this league, the fences were a little farther than most). We beat what was considered the best team in the league that night. I stood by the dugout with the twins dad..I told him, "You know, it doesn't get any better than this". He agreed. Good-hearted, average size kids dominating a game. The twins went on an each broke the rec. centers record for home runs in a season. Still stands.

Great story.
I don't know that we have a record book. Would be a good idea, may keep our older players in the league longer

When I was 14-15, I had a baseball coach who refused to play me for the full game because I had long hair, and wouldn't cut it. I never missed the all star team, and twice had the highest batting average in the league before playing for him. The last season with him, my average slipped to about .450 (I foolishly emulated Gary Sheffield's swing, and had my back elbow way too high, hitting a lot of grounders). Rather than coaching me, he just talked shite. I ended up losing any interest and quit baseball.

1998 I was refereeing a 12 year old fb game in Kennah Bra and Team a had future JC hoss running roughshod all over team B.. At one point hoss trucks kid on team b.. trucked kids dad comes on to field yelling at him and calling him a pu**y for not tackling #33 and getting run over like a girl.
guy had been an arse all game.. I went to him and told him he wasn't a coach - get off of my field and get on the other side of the fence NOW...
he threatened to whip my arse and there was a kennah deputy right behind him who took him away.
after the games(I had 2 more to call there) he was waiting in a car parked behind mine - I drove a few blocks realized he was following me and pulled over - he did too got out and came after me. It was a very big mistake for him - used a nice leg sweep to take him down and quickly subdue him and have my way.
the only reason I stopped is i didn't want the fool following me to my home.
then there was the time at cypress mounds in 2010 that really takes the cake with a bunch of drunk parents taunting 11 year olds.... again.. me and mine had the last laugh

When I played little league baseball in the late '80s, we had to play in Duson (Louisiana) a few times. It was my introduction to both white trash and crazy parents that cared way too much about an 8/9 yr old kids league. There was apparently one incident that led to a big fight between parents of two different teams from Duson.

I'm 5'9. I wasn't going pro anytime soon. Plus, I always had a rebellious streak in me. But that guy was just a prick.

Look around Johnny Downs. There are mommas over there that opt for LSU gear versus the team shirt. They have high hopes
