I watched a kid about 10-11 years old swimming his first 400 free (That's 16 laps) About halfway through, he tired out and held onto the wall trying to catch a second wind. His father goes over and grabs him says "Don't you f-ing quit. You are better than everyone of these losers."

The kid is in tears, and all the other kids are struggling as well (This is the longest race for that age group). He ends up finishing third and is disqualified because his dad touched him while he in the water. Dad goes ballistic on the referee. Coach comes in and tells him he's going to be banned from coming to meets if he doesn't calm down. He throws another f-bomb out, takes his kid and leaves. Wife packs up everything calmly and follows.

Kid was at practice the next week like nothing had happened.

i have a 1st baseman that's easily twice the weight of the average kid playing on our 9-10 year old team.

He likes to get in the base path and i keep telling him he's going to kill one of these little kids one day.
Seriously, the kid had to be 150#

Rest of them are like 45-60#

Oh, the center last week really pissed off this one parent when she bowed whiles he was yelling from the stands. When he yelled "I WASN'T CONGRATULATING YOU!" I almost fell over laughing.

All of this really makes you appreciate the coaches that are actually friendly. Yeah, they may disagree with a call, but they'll quickly calm down and be all smiles after the game.

Had a police officer try to intimidate my high school team my junior year. We were playing a district rival and we're both top 10 in state so it was an important game.

Said officer comes into the dugout and states that any play made with malicious intent or any kind of aggression shown on the field would result in the player being arrested on the spot (previous games between the two teams had gotten pretty dirty)

Come to find out the officer was one of the opposing team's dads. It was such chicken shite. He basically was trying to scare us into playing like a bunch of pussies.

And probably not one parent or opposing coach has noticed you trying to correct him, and they will lose their shite at a 10 year old boy because he acts like a 10 year old boy.

Sad part is that there were probably other fields not being used. coaches shouldve just decided to run over to Tball, haul a mound bump over and umped it themselves.
This should have happened.

That reminds me of another one. 12 year old football in Madison, MS had a team a couple years ago that filmed opponent's games with those expensive end zone camera rigs.

We travel for soccer, U11s. The better teams have better acting parents, the shitty teams have dumb frick parents. You can always tell when it's going to be bad when the parents don't know where to sit. If you walk up to the field and the opposing parents are strewn out all over the sideline, it's going to be a shite show. If they're only on the side their team's bench is, it'll be better.

I get onto my son. I give up a shite load of time to allow him to chase his dreams, he better fricking try out there. End of story. He doesn't have to be good, or better than the other kids, but he better get his arse in gear and play with heart. He doesn't have to, but he's goaing to hear it from me if he doesn't.

Soccer practice for 2 hours, 30 minutes away, on Tuesdays and Thursdays...games an hour and a half away Saturday morning at 8:30 and 5:30, and 8:30 and noon on Sunday. Hotel room and all. Every weekend for two seasons a year with more practice in the offseason. Guest playing on other teams and practice with them, Mon and Wed, when that happens. That's A LOT of time for me to give up...I want to see effort.

me too, but some Dixie nazi would probably just shut it down. I got in trouble for moving a mound from the tball field last year so our kids wouldnt kill themselves running over it.

If it comes down to him hurting a runner i'm sure i'll get an ear full from everyone. I have had to call timeout several times and walk all the way over to first from third to tell him and my first base coach to keep him out of the base path.

This is how it should be done. As long as the guy shut up afterwards.

I wonder how many people in this thread are reading it trying to figure out if any of the stories are about them!

I almost got thrown out of a tee-ball game for trying to convince an ump that a warning isn't really a warning if no one other than him knows about it.

I've got too many to list. I'll start off by saying my dad was thrown other of multiple soccer and basketball games when I was growing up. Some deserved, one wasn't. I've also been a soccer ref off and on for at least 15 year. I've seen grown men cuss out 15 year old girls. I've been chased off a field for making the right call. Just last week I was the AR for a high school game and parents and coaches wouldn't stop yelling at the center ref (a college aged female). I'm also the assignor for the local rec league and we've gotten a few coaches and parents suspended for a season. It's the reason I won't do centers any more. Not because I can't handle it (I don't give a frick what anyone yells at me), but because the abuse isn't worth the extra $10.

My mom had the bright idea to force me to get certified and ref middle school games when I was just in 9th grade. Only being a year older than the players made it a little awkward and the abuse from the parents was just ridiculous. I learned to not let it bother me and got pretty good and making quick comebacks that embarrassed them while still paying attention to the game. My mom would always say "It's easy money." Yeah it's easy to do the actual job but the abuse you take from parents and coaches isn't worth it a lot of the time

Probably...we play all over south Louisiana.

Hey, I yell at my own son...not the refs, not the opposing players, not anyone but my own kid...and my son only gets the time it takes to get back into position to celebrate...get back to work.
