I miss the heft of these:
Those Western Electric phones were so damn solid, you could legit use the receiver as a blunt force weapon.
One of my long term projects is to acquire a 1940’s vintage black bakelite desk phone for my home office. You can splice a modern RJ-11 connector on the cord.

Back in the 90s, there was a Quincy's and Shoney's next door to each other. Across the street was an O'Charley's. Then the Western Sizzlin' was about a half mile down the road.
The 90s were so good. Peak Americana for me as an early 80s baby.

Westgate Drive-in in Metairie. (A relative owned it.)
Spent many nights there with my siblings watching my dad's favorite, "The Sound of Music" while the pic burned on the station wagon's (wood-paneled of course) dash.

Would you believe they are back? My daughter bought some for Christmas. Not sure what she has against my grandchildren...

One of the greatest store in its time. They had everything:

I have a set of those "NOEL" Christmas candles.
Bought them online about 20yrs ago.
Website is gone.
I prefer older style decorations.
We had the aluminum christmas tree with color wheel when I was a kid in the 60s and 70s

My grandma took us to Fun Fair Park often. It was so much fun. And we would always get cotton candy and popcorn. And I remember that poor monkey.

If you put them in the freezer for about 30 minutes it was heaven
