Because of their massive size and large populations, there are 43 buildings in New York City that have their own exclusive zip codes

There are only 3 states in the US that has a building taller than the highest elevation located within that same state:

Maryland is closer to Ohio than it is to New York City.

It struck me as sort of a massive waste of money (how many billions did it ultimately cost?), for a mostly useless and not even really that attractive strip of greenspace. I mean, I guess it looks better than the freeway, but I just remember seeing it in person and thinking, 'Wait, y'all spent a few years worth of your whole city budget for THIS?
Having lived there before and after the Big Dig, it transformed the city in a significant way — not just aesthetically. You can always argue the value of any massive public project but status quo wasn’t going to be free.

I used to call everything coke but around 20 years ago I switched to soda, not sure why. Now calling a Dr Pepper a coke feels weird

Looks like all countries converge around either Choctaw or Washington counties in Alabama.

Same here and it was probably more than 20 years but I know why.
The erosion started when more soft drink products began entering the market. I can even date it back to having to say more words for just a frickin coke when I had to distinguish New Coke from a Coca Cola Classic. Around then is when waitresses started to ask if Pepsi was ok because they stopped carrying coke.
The market changed the vocabulary.

I didn't know there was a country called Kiribati.
Last year, flying from San Francisco to New Zealand at night, I looked down and saw a bunch of lights on an island in the middle of the dark Pacific Ocean. Zoomed in on the flight tracker on the back of chair screen; it was Kiribati.
Did a little research, it is actually pronounced Kiri-boss, because it used to be Christmas Island and that's the closest spelling and phonetic equivalent in the local language.

The most shocking part of this map is how large some of the counties are in the southwest. A few of those counties in AZ, NV, and SOCAL are about half the size of Louisiana.

The distance from Orange,Tx to El Paso,Tx is farther than El Paso,Tx to Los Angeles,Ca.

If you don't have Bluetooth location permissions turned on when you enter it, your map navigation still thinks you're above ground and tries to tell you to turn into the wall of the tunnel. I was pissed until I figured out what was wrong.

Not the mythical Southern "I'll have a coke sir" "Ok son what kind" "Mr. Pibb"
Have to disagree, North Texas/Dallas area. This was how it was in the 70s and 80s.
South Texas, everything was “soda water”
North of Oklahoma, everything was a pop
It has changed a lot, but you don’t have to go to the 1920s, You just have to go back to the early 80s in the 70s to find everything being called a Coke In North Texas

New York County (which is Manhattan) is the second smallest county in the US (2nd only to a county in Hawaii), yet it consistently ranks in the top 10 of the most populous counties in the US.
