Thoughts on San Antonio? Late 30's, single, job would be national exposure in the commercial real estate investment world but would have to be in SA. Moving from Austin so a bit different in terms of energy, nightlife, single gals. Looking for feedback from anyone who lives or has lived there. TIA

You'll only be a little over an hour away from Austin. Hang out there on weekends

I spent a month there a couple of years ago. I was very unimpressed. There's some cool stuff near there though

Boring compared to Austin, but if it's a good job you'll figure out things to do. It's not that far a drive to Austin or Hill Country.

I work there a few weeks out of the year.
Cost of living is much cheaper than Austin. Culture is a lot different too, not as much on the cards for haute cuisine or music scene. Traffic is pretty bad if you work the 9-5.

Have family in Fair Oaks. I could live on that side of town. If you work downtown that commute would suck.

It's a uninspiring city. Not much engagement from citizens. Almost exact opposite of Austin. Traffic is awful, lots of strip mallls, very little character. Single should try and live downtown IMO. It's a strange place. I've lived in at least 10 other cities and San Antonio is easily the most uninteresting

Only thing I can add is I have been there twice, both times in the summer. It is the most humid place I have even been and that is saying a lot since I live in South La. I enjoyed the city but it was just HOT...

Good luck.

I didn't find that to be the case when I was at ft. Sam Houston and at camp bullis in the summertime. I also was wearing my combat gear. La still felt hotter imo

S.A. doesn't have the same vibe Austin does, but these people talking about the traffic are crazy. It's a major city, but has really solid options for transport. Loops, etc help. Look near the Quarry, Alamo heights, the Pearl, or downtown.
